Parade of Nations – Malawi

Malawi formed its National Olympic Committee before 1972 and participated in its first Olympics as a country at the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics. They haven’t hosted any Olympic Games, but they’ve participated in 10 Summer Games and 0 Winter Games. The Olympic sports in which Malawi has competed are Athletics and Swimming.

“The base of the design is the composition of baobab leaves and flowers. Natural beauty and the life of people are expressed by the national bird Sea Eagle drawn by the side of Lake Malawi and fish such as cichlids living in the water, natural flowers and masks on the land part. The harmony of people is drawn by the balanced arrangement of ethnic patterns and masks of three big tribes.”[1]

“The obi was carefully woven by hand based on the contrast of blue and silver by combining Lake Malawi and the mural pattern.” [1]
