Motherhood at it’s Finest
Do you just love it when you tell your children no and then they do it anyway thinking that they know better...well this week my daughter decided to test me and it did not go well for her.
My children at the beginning of the school year petitioned over the summer to take their lunch to school. I repeatedly said no until we had a family meeting with some ground rules. Out of this family meeting, I found out that they do not like the lunch that the school provides for them.
My daughter stated how sometimes the food is cold or mushy and it is not supposed to be. My son stated that sometimes he wants to not eat the food because it smells old. Growing up I remember lunch that was provided and it was not good. So, I agreed to purchase items so they can put their lunch together every day.
Well a couple days ago, my daughter asked me to cut her apple into sections like I normally do. I was busy with helping her brother read and with his other homework. I went to the bathroom and then sat on my bed to take off my shoes. She comes in to tell me that I am going to be really mad at her while tears run down her face.
She revealed to me that she cut herself while trying to cut her apple. I was furious. I grabbed her thumb and squeezed tightly and held it above her heart. This was the big “ I Told You So” moment and I took it 100%. After examining her cut after the bleeding stopped it looked like a papercut. Very thin and superficial. I had a really long LONG lecture. Then told her to get ready for bed.
I get so frustrated that I tell them no and the reasons why they shouldn’t do what I’m telling them not to do. Man, do any of you have any stories where your parenting was tested? If so, I would love to read about them!
Can’t wait to read some of your stories,
