I want to write this but I cannot cram even a drabble into my five minute pomadoro allocated break but it's important to me that Shane is the beverage girlie out of him and Ilya. Ilya seems like he drinks either like he only got a glass at all so he could half smirk into it and raise his eyebrows judgmentally over the rim and maybe take a tiny sip just to feel like Leo DiCaprio as Gatsby, or like he's Sokka from ATLA in the desert and the 24 pack of coke he just got on deal is doing its best cactus impression. He SEEMS like a beverage girlie but if he's actively aiming to hydrate or get drunk he's pounding that shit back before he's made it back from the fridge, there's no time for multiple drinks to accumulate.
Shane on the other hand feels like someone who would need a glass of water to go alongside any thick or dairy containing drinks, especially if alongside a meal so that it actually feels like it's washing stuff down, and he's careful about caffeine so if he's having a drink with even a trace of caffeine he's gotta have another drink on hand to make sure he isn't just absently veering out of his target range. And this isn't even considering the hot drink-fruit juice-water breakfast combo, or the pyramids of ginger ale cans he builds when he leaves one a little too long between sips and it's slightly too flat which means it tastes sweeter which isn't refreshing and so now he needs a new ginger ale AND a glass of water to get rid of the taste of the last one
