The Surreal Manairon.

This piece was created for the Manairon Skin Challenge, a contest organized with XPPen Spain: https://www.instagram.com/p/DVN5qA2jT0f/?img_index=1 The challenge: design an original skin (outfit) for a Manairons character and integrate the Artist 12 3rd Generation tablet into the scene as part of the illustration. In my entry, the tablet becomes a magical gateway—a tool that channels surrealist energy, blending Salvador Dalí’s iconic symbolism (elongated elephants, insects, the persistence of memory) with the ancestral folklore of the Manairons, the tiny mythical beings said to be born from plants on the night of San Juan. Through vibrant colors and dreamlike imagery, the work explores the intersection of creativity, technology, and Catalan cultural roots, imagining the tablet as an object of artistic magic within the Manairons’ universe.

I’m spoiling things, so I’ll put it under the cut, just in case you don’t want things spoiled.

She is so near and dear to my heart

I love to daydream about her and her story, but I’m finding it kinda hard to write the part of her story I’m at right now

She will lose nearly everything, and yet, always find a way to keep going

(If I’m being honest, I’m self projecting my wish to be that kind of person on her, but oh well)

She will find love after a while

And it will help her keep that perseverance

I really really love the concept, the mental image, of her being this sort of wise seeming general and yet queen like figure (literal ages and ages down the road). And then her family who haven’t seen her in said ages are reborn and she has to like, fight some orcs, and she just slaughters them with ease and her family are just like

Do I find them attractive?: “I suppose, for an Altmer, he’s not entirely bad to look at,” she chuckles, “He is… quite tall, however, and I’m… Well, let’s just say that I’ve been mistaken for an oddly colored Bosmer.”
