Dean nods. “And the...last part,” he says hesitantly.

“When I said I love you?” Castiel clarifies. It’s not like there’s much sense tiptoeing around it now, after all.

“Yeah,” Dean licks his lips. “When you said you love me.” He releases a shuddering exhale. “How did you mean it?”

You’re nothing. Nothing but another failed experiment. All of you. Humans. Angels. Monsters.” Chuck raises his hand, fingers poised to snap. “Soon you’ll be nothing more than characters in an unwritten story. You’re my ink and paper dolls…” his eyes darken. “And I’m about to light a match.”

Chapter 3: Paint it Black

The probing, encompassing black ooze untwines itself from their bodies, Billie’s and that of the meddlesome angel. Sinuous and slithering, it draws back toward its master, sprawled casually, seemingly at-ease, on their sad little throne.

As those unctuous fingers retreat, Billie stares, stoic and unimpressed at the slouching cosmic entity. Next to her, the angel Castiel goes through the motions of inhaling deeply, presumably just for the sensation of being able to do so. Beings who actually needed to breathe would probably describe The Shadow as suffocating, not that they’d find the void that surrounds them now any less so. Aptly named, nothing so substantial as air exists in The Empty.

Fortunately, Billie doesn’t need to breathe, so the smothering presence of the Shadow and its domain are more inconvenience than anything else. Still though, even for her, that oily touch is...unsettling.

She brushes off her jacket as the last of the ooze recedes. “Did you have to be so...thorough?”

It's a good thing that quirky pet store girl gave him the Twitter handle for her cat rescue buddy, CJ. Dean doesn't know about the kitten, but he sure as hell could use some rescuing right about now.

Castiel Novak is not a baker. But one interfering best friend and some dismal Yelp reviews for his brother's coffee shop later, Castiel somehow finds himself standing in front of a cook top in his very first baking class, his non-existent baking aspirations literally going up in smoke around him. It's a good thing his gorgeous, green-eyed classmate is there to rescue him...
