Earlier I shared a post on Facebook about it being preferable to say 'thank you' rather than a protracted apology when corrected for misgendering someone, and a male friend (who is generally very brash and of the common or garden 'debate me Sharon' variety, and cannot admit being wrong to anyone, let alone apologising) commented suggesting that I should continue to acknowledge apologies as not everyone is that mindful, and it's culturally appropriate to respond reassuringly to an apology in western society.

Like gee dude, thanks for telling me how apologies work 😂
