Now, one more step to determine if Stith really would be another Joel. If told that the Fireflies were going to perform fatal brain surgery on Ellie to develop the vaccine, would they go on a murderous rampage through the hospital to save Ellie?

Absolutely, they won’t hesitate to kill all the Fireflies like Joel did

They’ll do the massacre, but only after thinking hard about it

They’ll try to stop the operation, but in a different way

They end up letting Ellie go through with the operation, despite being attached

Rochard the Mantrin

Commission by Roki over at furaffinity! Rochard is a large, husky, Magnarhul Mantrin - a regional variant of Mantrin that are defined by their large frames, heavyset build, luscious manes, and a (usual) preference for cooler areas. Typically around 9 to 10 feet tall, they have a towering build, and their jumps average around their body height vertically - which is outrageous given their size and their seemly overweight builds. Likewise, their kicks are devastating, easily sending a human sized opponent tumbling head over heels, whom likely won't be getting back up any time soon.

Rochard in particular is an anomaly among his kind, having gravitated towards a dry, sandy desert region of his home world. With the extra bulk (thus insulation) afforded to his race, he's rarely seen in anything more than cargo shorts and a vest. (Though admittedly, he does like to show off his big, round belly.) Rochard has near encyclopedic knowledge on mechanical parts, and can fix or jury rig almost anything when given the right tools and parts. He also knows about an awful lot about military tech and equipment that a civilian really shouldn't have access to...

The home world of his kin is the a habitable moon of a gas giant. Though it teems with life, the strong radiation has made computers more advanced than what would be equivalent to real world 1990's tech very difficult to make, the civilization in question having to min-max into analogue alternatives. (This also means Magnarhul Mantrin are quite radiation resistant, being able to ignore does levels that would be fatal long term to most other species) Thus most tech is equivalent to our world's 70-90's era in capabilities, if better refined by virtue of longer iteration time to develop those technologies.

Fortunately, being the moon of a gas giant means space travel to other celestial bodies is quite easy. A trade exists where there are research stations on distant moons and in orbit out of the worst of the radiation, where the "good shit" is made and tech progresses... with less impedance. Items are exported back to the main world - but due to radiation - it's either short lived, or hardened and very, very expensive.
