🔥+ historical dramas

Sometimes I think historical dramas get too caught up in portraying how “” gritty “” ye olden times were, to the point where it’s borderline just using it for shock factor

like...yes the dark ages were generally unhygienic, yes battle was very gory, yes people died of illness and it was messy, but if you’re using those things to gross out your audience rather than tell a story, perhaps you have watched too much Game of Thrones and you should calm down maybe

Okay so I sat on this a while because I was trying to think of what to say because you’re so awesome and kind and funny and like you have BEST vibes?? Like you’re super passionate about the things you’re passionate about and you ain’t bovvered by the rest of it and I love that.

Also you’ve always said such lovely things about my writing (especially my book) and I’ve never forgotten it and it’s always been inspiring because I’m like “I really respect her opinion so if SHE likes it….”

I would like to know.... what’s the most surprising thing about working in a bakery? Like the thing you never could have anticipated?

I couldn’t decide so I picked two: 

1. The indescribable, quirky sound made by a particular kind of dough dividing machine (such squeaks and squelches and whirrings and clunks!)

2. How quickly and intensely everyone comes to love - or hate - different metal carts based on their tendency towards greasiness, their overall stability, their ease of wheel movement, etc.  One cart in particular has a little hand-written painter’s-tape label proclaiming it ‘The Good Cart’ with smiles hearts and stars.  I agree with that label.  The good cart is a very good cart and deserves praise and love.

favorite thing about cats: all the things about cats! how could i choose? i suppose it is how affectionate they can be and when a cat decides it wants to lay on your lap or make biscuits near you or purrs, they’re just very expressive and good.

favorite song right now: probably ‘juice’ by lizzo which plays in the bakery like at least twice per day and is good and energizing and fun every single time.

instantly speak any language: THIS IS ANOTHER REALLY HARD ONE. maybe spanish?

star trek tech in my lifetime: i’m not sure which would be realistic but obviously transporters would be pretty awesome.

of the breads: i’m not sure if this is asking about my bread opinions or about that #baker life but one of the most fun things to make imho is baguettes that look like sheafs of wheat.  they’re really simple and easy and fun to do and come out looking beautiful imho
