Rebooted Downton Abbey anyone?
Thirty odd years later in the late fifties to early sixties. Like a peek into the house to see what’s they’re up to. And of course I’ve got a fancast for it
Felicity jones as Sybbie
Dan Radcliffe as George
Samantha barks as Marigold
Jodie Comer as Caroline
Helen Mirren as Mary
Liam Neeson as Tom
Hugh Laurie as Thomas
Emma Thompson as Anna
Anne Marie Duff as Daisy Mason
Thomas Brodie Sangster as Johnny Bates
I’d just really like to see how Barrow becomes the Carson to the kids later on down the line. Also I think George would turn out to be a beatnik. Or the British equivalent at least. Barrow would still be the butler and Anna would now be the housekeeper. Daisy would probably be the head cook by now. Johnny would most likely be George’s valet. Have no idea what the plot could be except George’s beatnik phase and trying to kill his mother with the incessant bongoing. Though I love the idea of Marigold being a singer during the Second World War. And Sybbie as a nurse like her mother was thirty years before. Don’t know about Caroline though. Might’ve been too young to actively help. Probably assisted with the estate which was possibly turned back into a convalescence home again.
Okay but honestly, Mr. Drew is the best friend that anyone could hope for. He kept Edith’s secret when it needed to be a secret, fought for her to be able to see her child, and did what needed to be done- at his own detriment- for Edith and Marigold to be happy. He’s just... he’s like the BEST and I think he deserves props for it

Been looking at pictures of Edith, and one thing I love about Laura’s acting is just the complete and total joy on her face when she is playing with Marigold. It is lovely to see just how completely she adores her daughter, and how truly happy she is when they are together. Seeing as Edith is naturally prone to melancholy and worry (understandable) those moments when she and Marigold are together are some of the ones when she is at her happiest and most content.
DOWNTON ABBEY HEADCANON
The day she turned twenty-one, Marigold Gregson was notified she had been left a generous bequest by a person who had been dead for years, meant to pay for her education or setting up a business.
She did not really need it, since Bertie had formally adopted her, but her mother convinced her to accept it. It was a considerable sum, but no explaination was given, and Marigold never knew how her benefactor knew her.
There was only one brief message. With all my affection, Anthony.
