Prompts, huh. Hmm, how about these for Qrow or Oz or both: "What's the most terrifying foe you've ever faced?" And "Someone the opposite of you in every way."
(Give me the opening sentence to a fic and I’ll write 5 16 more sentences oops.)
"What's the most terrifying enemy you've ever faced?"
Ozpin looked down at the gaggle of thirteen-year-olds seated around him, then to Qrow. It wasn’t often that the headmaster could be surprised--not that it was obvious, from the way he collected himself--but leave it to Raven’s daughter to do it.
Qrow’s brow pinched as he looked over his students. “Yang, that might not be--”
“It’s fine.” He leaned against the podium, fingers tapping along the edge of his cane. Those whiskey eyes went dark under the fringe of his silver hair. “The most terrifying foe I’ve ever faced? Is humanity, Ms. Xiao Long.”
The teenagers gaped at him, falling into hushed whispers. "How are humans scary?” Yang demanded.
"Yang--”
“The worst thing a Grimm can do to you is kill you.” Ozpin’s voice went soft with ancient sorrow. “There are fates worse than death, Ms. Xiao Long, and I pray that none of you ever face them.”

no they go to Lea! it’s magical, but by either the 90s or now the story is legend!
katestamps replied to your post “Welcome to Boston, home of the bean and the cod. Where the Lowells...”
Um..does Harry and co go hide out in Lea? Cause that might still cover the “tiny yet definitely magical” part of Betwys Beddau. And I’d love to see what happened to the rest of the Mayer/Platter Family in more current times.
Well, I have specific reasons for making it Galvestston as opposed to Lea, but I’m so glad people are so interested in what would happen to the contemporary town!
I know what happens to the Mayer-Platters up until about the end of WWII, though after that it gets a bit fuzzy as the decision tree broadens. I do know that even though most of Wild’s siblings leave Lea, they do maintain a familial presence there and still own the farm (likely now expanded to include Tex Junior’s farm next door).

I love my family’s prohibition story about how the Jungle Room was built out on a long pier so they would have time to drop the booze into the ocean before the cops could make it out to the end, and then fish the crates back up afterwards. and then they got busted by a cop gunning a motorcycle down the (pedestrian!) pier and bursting through the door.
LOL! What an ingenious solution, especially since it doesn’t lead to all the dumped booze being non-salvageable.

can I also just add that there are currently two reasons I ever go to Galveston. 1: historic candy store that sells seasonal fudge (I can't get over their carrot cake nonsense for the week surrounding easter oh my gOD and their peanut fudge in the fall it's like NOTHING ELSE) and 2: a woo-woo new-age store The Witchery that sells meditation cds, mythological statuary, and amethyst chalice-athame sets and is the best front for a wizarding business I could ever imagine
I know exactly the candy store you’re talking about! I don’t remember The Witchery but I had a great time poking around in the military surplus store. I got a communication officer’s radio bag there that I used for YEARS.
wholetthedogdrive replied to your post “Sewing a Duck Bill Mask: A Quick Handy Guide With Photos”
Thanks for the tutorial—I’d tried some with the hair elastics but hadn’t thought to cut them and then sew the ends in (rather than leaving them and sewing a channel for them). I’ll try your way!
Realistically, the channel probably makes for a more durable mask because even if the stitching goes or the elastic frays, you can just repair it, which is slightly more difficult with the kind I do. But it’s less sewing and they seem to hold up well, at least!
marithlizard replied to your post “The Stealing Harry post reminds me.. eons ago, I got the kid-friendly...”
hm! @copperbadge is the kid-friendly version available somewhere, by chance, or might you be willing to share it? I know a smol who loves HP and wants more stories to read.
It is, yes! I want to note that I do strongly recommend reading this version before sharing it with any little ones to make sure in your opinion it’s still appropriate. The explicit sex has been cut out but all the relationships (including some slightly risque physical affection) and violence remain, and some of the violence might be unsettling depending on the kid.

No one would leave New England for TX in the summer. That gives you the absolute worst of both climates with bonus fall leaves?
Well, it’s not exactly voluntary, much like it wasn’t when they moved to Rhos y Beddau. Fortunately they’ll be back to New England for the school terms. I’m planning to shift “Hogwarts” to a secret Wizarding village in the elbow of Cape Cod. :D
marithlizard replied to your post: I’m rewatching “Ace Operatives” and two things. 1)...
Yeah,my immediate reaction on first watching that episode was “they’re competent and all, but this isn’t the Nucklavee and the kids have pulled off teamwork as good or better with a much larger group and less ensemble training. Why are they so starry-eyed?” I think they wanted to be impressed and therefore fit in, and also Atlas propaganda is very effective.
Yup. The only thing they had trepidation towards was the Dust attached to its body, which meant they couldn’t use the strategy they used last time. Give Jaune 15 seconds and he’d have found a way around it.

I didn’t recognize them at all!
It literally took me a second to, seeing them like this is just wrong wrong wrong oh gods give them their color back are they okay
marithlizard replied to your photoset: the last ask made me think of this…
The best answer to “I want a baby” I’ve seen is still “Okay, shopping carts outside stores are a good place to try. How fast can you run?”
OH MY GOD
marithlizard replied to your post “Raven confronts Ozpin in his office one otherwise unremarkable...”
oh my god this is perfect and I can see the getting-together fic around it. Raven is 95% "I don't care, when you and my idiot brother inevitably fail and die, just don't take my tribe with you" and 5% "the least you could do is make my brother a happy doomed idiot until then, so DO IT." And Ozpin is shocked but now the idea is in his head and he can't get rid of it.
<3333 Thank you!!!!
YES that was basically the plan there, although I like the idea that Raven doesn’t so much think of Qrow as dumb enough to fool as she does seduced/manipulated into complacency by Ozpin (and his insidious powers of...human decency), so she very much resents Oz and would rather have Qrow back with the tribe than In His Clutches (what daughter, lol). But before she showed up with the shovel talk, Ozpin was willing to live happily in denial that his and Qrow’s growing relationship wasn’t anything serious. But once Raven puts it into his head, he can’t stop thinking about it. Nice job, Raven. XD
Huge apologies for the length of this post - I’ve been needing to clear out my ask box for a long, LONG time now.
Oh my bad - noted. Thank you!
I thought this was the case; thanks for clarifying! I guess it all works out - Log Date worked fine as a finale, and Super Watermelon Island was certainly a great way to start off a season! I’m honestly surprised SWI was intented as a midseason episode.
I know this came through months ago (wow - I moved back in August, what the hell have I been doing?!) but honestly it’s always timely, right? D:
Anyway, thank you! Hearing that you guys still enjoy it really does give me the motivation to continue, despite what it may seem!
It’s both the general “birdiness” as well as the swooping - mostly, though, it’s the talons and the beaks.
Penguins, though, don’t bother me much at all. I’d probably be a little apprehensive about approaching or being around a penguin, but I’d be much more willing to hang with a penguin than I would, say, a pigeon. They’re way cuter, plus they can’t fly at me, and if they try to peck my eyes out I think I could dropkick one pretty easily.
I’m pretty sure this is referring to the watermelons from SWI, in which Steven kind of literally is their god; he’s basically their divine creator, right?
Your eloquent description of Jasper and Lapis’s dynamic and relationship as Malachite is right on the money honestly
I still can’t believe they did my girl dirty like that
I did see the comic (or video?) sometime shortly after watching the episode...and also, I’m actually doing a playthrough of Undertale right now! I’ll link the playlist below so you can watch it, if you like - warning, though: I’m not great at commentary, banter, or comedy. There’s also some audio mixing issues in the first few episodes; it gets addressed later on. I’m also kind of terrible at the game apparently. AND you’ll have to put up with my voice which is...unpleasant, but it’s here if you want to put something on in the background! We are NOT professionals, sorry. I mean seriously I was eating ice cream while playing, not considerate AT ALL
Thank you! I think I’ve taken wayyy more than enough time though, haha!
You guys are way too kind, giving me WAY too much leeway when it comes to taking so much time away from the blog.
Unfortunately, I’m going to have to put BoJack on the back burner for a while. I can barely keep up with SU right now, so adding BoJack to the mix would be a poor choice, I think.
Besides I caved a while back and watched the new season anyway sooo BUT if you ever want to talk BoJack with me, feel free to message me or shoot me up on Discord! I’m always down for some sad horse talk
(Sad horse talk you say - but isn’t that just you, Pony?)
I can’t say that for certain - I’ve never been able to stick to a consistent schedule, unfortunately. I’m trying out the every Friday thing, but that doesn’t even necessarily guarantee a full episode every week - it’s what I’m aiming for, but it’s not a guarantee. The liveblog has to take a back seat to more pressing things, namely work and school.
I won’t lie and tell you a Patreon would guarantee anything, but it would DEFINITELY be more incentive to stay as consistent as possible.
It is! I’m sorry guys - I’m doing okay, just caught up with school and work and laziness!
AND IT AIN’T CHANGING ANY TIME SOON
I’m sort of like a legend - no one has really seen me
I AM HERE! Sorry D:
I am! Seriously guys, I’m sorry! I hope you’re okay, too!
Sorry for the anxiety! I’m still kickin’, still bloggin’. I’ll absolutely give a heads-up if I decide to ditch the blog; I wouldn’t leave you guys hanging like that!
Thank you! I’m still very much excited to be watching. We’re keeping it to tumblr for now, but I’ll let you guys know if I decide to move.
I mean, it was a little raunchy.
Yeah, it definitely fits in with the vibe of the show - I just hope it’s not all. I’d be surprised if it was, but I’d also be understanding if that’s just...it.
I did consider it, but for now I’m thinking I’ll stick to tumblr. Seems to still be holding on okay? Maybe? D:
Thank you! At least now I know it’s an option!
Outwardly the Cluster is kind of beautiful in a haunting way. But then when you begin to think about what goes into it, I just want to crawl into a hole and cry.
Awww, no! You guys are the best and deserve all the happiness! <3
