My TopNine
After sharing my #topnine a couple weeks ago, I wanted to make my own top nine--my personal favorites from 2019! <3 These are the paintings that really meant something to me, or defined my year of creative growth~ Until very recently, my art was a back-burner hobby that I could only escape to when I had time/ energy leftover from my day job. I'm so thankful to be able to immerse myself in my creativity now, and explore more about the styles, palettes, and ideas that inspire me (art-college-Sarah would be proud of all the color I'm learning to use)! I think my biggest technical challenge has always been defining a single style that is "me," since there are so many ways I enjoy painting. My love of dark, gritty fantasy/ realism and anime leaves a lot of middle ground to play with, and this year I've experimented with many different design choices to find that balance. I'm proud of the progress I've made, and feel like I'm close to unlocking that next skill-point to get me there! :)
2019 will be defined as the year I finally cast out into the deep sea and started exploring who I am as an artist. Who my characters are, and the best ways to tell their stories. With all that I've learned, and the tools that I've gained, 2020 will become the HOW that manifests in all the worlds I want to share~
Do you have a specific creative or personal goal for 2020?✨ ~*~
