There are few things regarding Gundam Wing burned in my mind quite like Heero's utter determination to make Quatre suffer the consequences of his actions after going off the deep end.
Trowa's about to up in a blaze of glory, and Heero does everything in his power to prevent Quatre from either dying with him, or even trying to save him.
Quatre: Heero, let me go! Trowa's gonna die. Heero: Yeah... and you killed him.
Even as someone who wasn't a fan of Quatre at the time, I was like, "Heero, what the hell are you doing, man???"
Everything in that moment, knowing (or not) where and why Quatre had the meltdown he did (the death of his immediate family. Something I didn't quite pick up on the first time I watched it all those years ago. His dad, sure, but I thought his sister just passed out. Apparently not?), and Heero and Trowa resigning themselves to stopping him, no matter what was driving him.
While the order of events is lost on me at the moment, one of the episodes focused on their conflict, ending with Heero outright saying, "Quatre... I'm gonna kill you." LIKE...!
The post-assassination arc was brutal as hell. When Heero wants to, and it has nothing to do with Relena, he can "complete" an objective come hell or high water.
"Where is the cake? I was told there would be cake. The cake is a lie."
