lily seriously needed to just stop for a minute and she was super brave for leaving marshall for that. her relationship with marshall was getting in the way of what she NEEDED to do to feel whole again, because unfortunately a great guy in your life is not where the dreams end and life doesnt lead up to marriage it leads to looking back on fond memories. lily was stuck in what seemed like a dead end can u blame her for wanting more like really can u
YES I FUCKING LOVE YOU and i think marshall recognised that it was something she needed even though, obviously, he was practically begging her not to do it. nobody would want their significant other to leave in that situation, even if deep down it would maybe make them happy, it would be downright scary. but i feel like ted sparked his anger in it and made marshall resent her for a little while. i was really mad at ted in that episode where he called lily a ‘grinch.’ marshall’s anger for it melted away when she came back, and especially when they reunited, because i think he was just relieved to see her looking okay and like she’d worked stuff out, but he realised she was right and he also needed some space to think for a bit and work out exactly what he wanted out of life. i think his anger was just there to replace the sadness because it was easier.
