I have mixed feelings about A Study in Emerald by Martin Wallace. I enjoyed the idea of the team-based secrecy in the game but the end game scoring seemed unbalanced or wonky somehow... I am not sure why/how but it seemed to make planning and tactical decisions difficult to gauge. Anno 1800! Surprisingly like the computer game, building your industries to build new industries. Build up your workers so you can use your industries to activate your cards. Once all yours cards have been activated, the game is over. The problem is that the more important diatribes you need, the more workers you need and the more cards you get.
