I am surprised there are this many humans/humanoids given my love of fantasy and xenofiction, but I've come to the conclusion xenofiction doesn't always have the strongest character writing (obviously many exceptions). Also several characters I love dearly didn't fit the box categories or were barely beat out by another based on how I'm feeling today. Anyways, this meme had me drawing things I don't normally draw! Good practice.

I'm reading through a bunch of Loki comics rn and currently, I'm on the Young Avengers ones.

But I just don't like that they made him go bad again. Why go through the previous character arc in Journey Into Mystery if they were just going to undo it afterwards? I don't get it.

Loki in the Magnus Chase books very much reminds me of The Joker. I feel like Rick Riordan had to have taken some kind of inspiration there. Because they're both chaotic people. They both have horrible fashion senses. They're both scarred and clearly not all that well mentally. There's a lot of similarities, honestly. And it's no wonder I made a note saying I thought Alex Fierro had the fashion sense of The Joker. It makes more sense now that I realize Loki himself has the behaviour patterns and fashion sense of a character like The Joker.

Like, even Marvel's version of Loki isn't as maniacal as the Magnus Chase one is. He dresses in emerald green tuxes, he acts like Magnus is his best friend (despite torturing his Uncle right in front of him), he makes a big show of getting emotional over an arranged wedding he's set up for Sam. He's crazy, and I love it. He really does embody chaos. He's not necessarily evil. He's just in it for himself, and he'll make alliances with anyone to further his own goals. In that way, he's like Marvel's Loki. But in dialogue and description, he's very much like The Joker or something.
