So fact number one Ghost Agatha in the comics actually follows Wanda around instead of Billy so like mother like son, marvel facts part two Jennifer Kale was a member of the Midnights sons which now that she has her powers it could maybe set up Midnights sons(i’m delusional I know) kinda a third fact but Jennifer Kale is also Johnny Blaze/ghostrider cousin
Find out about the grey Hulk origin story and a Marvel change that led to a memorable character. Click to read the full fact.
MARVEL facts you (probably) did not know:
1. Green Goblin in his first appearance did not use his iconic glider. Instead, he used a rocket-broom
2. Mysterio created his signature fish bowl helmet being inspired by Spider-Man. He mimicked Peter’s mask lenses, that he himself could see through, but no one could see him under the mask.
3. The most popular armour of Tony Stark (after his retro Mark-4 suit) is his Extremis suit. Unlike in the movies, in the comics Tony used Extremis on himself, creating a psychic link with his suit. He could assemble it on himself just with a thought and more (e.g. he could talk on the phone, sending a signal right from his brain, converting his thoughts into sound on the fly)
4. Several Avengers (specifically Captain America, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Wolverine, and Luke Cage) saw each other naked. It happened after Elektro organised a mass prison break from Raft and the New Avengers went on a mission to the Savage Land and got captured by Sauron (no, not the one from LOTR)
5. Taskmaster is scared shitless of Moon Knight. He was once hired to assassinate him, when Marc Spector was at his lowest, but Taskmaster ended up beaten up almost to death when Moon Knight drove his Mooncopter right into the building Taskmaster was in.
6. Doctor Strange once created his own nemesis out of his misery and pain he extracted out of himself and locket in the cellar of the Sanctum Sanctorum. He unleashed this creature to beat the Empirikul (an organisation from another dimension that is set on eradicating all o magic). After that, this thing from the cellar became one of Strange’s adversaries known as Mister Misery.
7. The first ever girlfriend Peter Parker had wasn’t Mary Jane Watson, or Gwen Stacy, or Liz Allan, it was in fact none other than Betty Brant.
8. Gorr the God Butcher in the comics is much more formidable than in the movie. Once allegedly killed by young Thor (still unworthy of Mjolnir at that time) he created a God Bomb that was supposed to kills all gods in the entire universe and at every moment in time, including ones from the past and ones in the future. He was stopped by three variants of Thor: young Thor, Thor from the present and King Thor from the future.
9. Norman Osborn became so powerful and influential after the Secret Invasion that he became the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which he remade into H.A.M.M.E.R.) and started using a redesigned suit of Iron Man, calling himself the Iron Patriot. This time period in the Marvel universe is now known as the Dark Reign.
10. Daredevil was once in a romantic relationship with none other than Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow.
Why don’t people shoot at Steve’s legs?
I think almost every Marvel fan has seen it by now:
“How did you take down Captain America?”
“We shot him in ze legs because his shield is the size of a dinner plate, and he’s an idiot.”
The humorous vine of Patrick William Charlton is well-known by many Marvel fans, allow me to give some insight as to why villains don't usually shoot at Steve's legs!
The shield is big enough for Steve to hide his entire 6 ft body behind it, even when jumping into the air or in the middle of being shot at, as seen here:
The shield is approximately 2.5 feet (76 cm), which is 30 inches. The average dinner plate ranges from 9 to 12 inches; a clear difference from Steve’s shield size.
Bigger shield equals more to hide behind, meaning less bullets penetrating your body!
We also see that Steve actually holds the shield up for protection. He doesn’t just keep his shield on his back or walks around standing tall like a giraffe with the thing only protecting his crotch; he does actively move and use it in combat, and makes himself smaller when needed.
Like here for example:
As you can see he actually holds it up in front of his body, and the shield covers a whole lot more of him than you’d think at first sight, leaving him protected from any incoming bullets, especially if he hunches over.
He also sort of “thrusts” the shield forward in combat, such as here:
Beside that, Steve Rogers can run and move at speeds beyond the peak of human potential, even being fast enough to surprise Quicksilver and stun him momentarily during their fight in Age of Ultron.
His enhanced speed allows him to bring his shield in the right position in just a second to avoid being shot. He can also use said speed to dodge any bullets that his shield doesn’t cover.
Apart from that, instinct and training are to shoot a gun at the center of mass. Police, soldiers and civilian shooters are all taught to shoot this way. The chance of hitting someone’s torso is far larger than hitting someone’s legs or head, especially if they’re moving. Unless you have the accuracy of Hawkeye, you'd be wasting time and bullets trying to get Steve's legs.
Especially when shooting Captain America, you want your first shot to be the last, or he will just get back up and fight back again.
Don't get me wrong, I'm saying this in the most loving way BUT is there one (1) Marvel Character without 🔆issues🔆?
You know whats surreal?
Finding out Iron-man has been attacked by the "pink elephants on parade" (from Dumbo).... in canon
... very uncomfortable
