Luminara Unduli on Geonosis
I one again entcounter my biggest enemy: Backgrounds
One of the most disgusting things the Empire did in Rebels was use Luminara Unduli's dead body to lure exiled Jedi.
Master Luminara fought at the Battle of Genonsis and saw the whole war unfold in front of her eyes. Her padawan, Barris Offee betrayed the Order and went to the dark side because of her anger about the Jedi participating in the war. She was taken by the Empire during order 66. She had to live with the knowledge that everyone was dead and that she was one of the last Jedi alive only to then be executed in her prison cell.
After her death, the Empire kept her body in the prison cell in which she died to lure other Jedi with rumours of her survival and remnants of her force presence.
War took everything from her and even in death she can't have peace because her body was used as a baiting tool.
Star Wars has me in a chokehold because what do you mean my ass is ready for a fucking revolution and I'm not even there
The attachment part of the Jedi Code never really sat right with me. Maybe it's because I want my favorite characters to be happy, maybe because I see it as unfair, maybe it's the fact that it's just inefficient. Maybe it's all of the above.
This is my point: Love is going to happen whether it's 'allowed' or not.
Love isn't dangerous. It's not what turns the Jedi to the Dark Side. Neither is heartbreak. It's because they don't know how to handle it. Their whole lives they are told that they shouldn't feel it because they're Jedi, to suppress it. But they're living sentient beings, they're going to feel love, whether it's familial, platonic, or romantic. And they're going to experience heartbreak. All of this will happen despite it being against the Code.
What really sends Jedi over is because they don't know how to handle it. They don't know how to healthily deal with the pain of a heartbreak. They don't know how to handle a situation where a loved one is involved in a dangerous situation. They don't know what to do. And they can't ask for help, because asking for help means admitting to violating the Code.
The suppression can lead to fear, anger, hate, and suffering, the exact path to the Dark Side. Fear that someone will find out. Anger at having to hide it. Hate towards the Council and Code for making them hide it. Suffering all together.
I've only watched the first two movies and the first few seasons of Clone Wars, so I don't know how Anakin turns to Darth Vader, even though I know it happens. I don't know what the straw that breaks the camel's back is. And please don't tell me. But I bet money that it was something to do with Padme. I don't know what, but something. And he didn't know how to handle it.
Not to mention, detachment can make Jedi weaker. There was this one scene in the Clone Wars with Master Luminara that I will never get over that really highlights the flaws of detachment. Ahsoka and Luminara's Padawan, Barriss, got trapped under a heap of rubble on Geonosis. Anakin, because of his attachment to Ahsoka, was willing to believe they were still alive and to try and get them out. Luminara, on the other hand, literally gave up. She was ready to just walk away. The only reason Ahsoka and Barriss survived was because Anakin was attached to Ahsoka and was willing to fight. Master Luminara is a quitter, and was teaching her Padawan (who, while down in the rubble, didn't fight to get out either) to be one as well through detachment. (Can you tell I really don't like Luminara?)
So... why don't they allow love? Let it be open. Have additional lessons taught to Padawans on how to properly handle love and heartbreak in a way that balances love and duty. Integrate their loved ones into their training so they can learn what to do when they're in a dangerous situation like that. So they don't panic and make irrational decisions when that time does inevitably come.
This isn't a perfect solution - no solution to this is. But the point isn't perfection, it's efficiency. Jedi will still fall to the Dark Side. They will still struggle with love and heartbreak, like anyone does. But the point is, they can hopefully be more prepared and can feel open and able to ask for help.

35K words!
Progress on Arc 5 is slow-going, but it is going!
And no, you don't get context for this. Feel free to theorize though!
Text version:
“And what did Luminara say?” Anakin asked, feeling his blood heat with fire.
“She said ‘perhaps you are correct’,” a nearby vod replied, pitching up his voice as he repeated what Luminara had said.
“I am sure that that was taken out of context,” Obi-Wan tried to assuage them.
Anakin saw out of the corner of his eye as Cody’s aura dimmed with crushing disappointment, the auras of the rest of Obi-Wan’s legion darkening with indignation and uncertainty.
Obi-Wan moved, standing between Anakin and Mundi, Ahsoka and Rex to Anakin’s left and right, the Five-Oh-First behind them. From behind Mundi, the uncertain and trepidation-filled gazes of the Twenty-First. Between them, like a buffer, stood the Two-Twelfth, though it was clear that the Twenty-First had no desire to fight, either verbally or physically, should the situation devolve further.

Ep3: Custom Doll of Luminara Unduli
@scribblesofshadow reckons the Star Wars fans might be interested in seeing my other Custom Star Wars Dolls projects I'm juggling at the moment so here's a few progress shots of Luminara, made from an Ashley (Mary-Kate and Ashley) fashion doll head on a Liv doll articulated body.
The top left is animated Luminara in the Clone Wars, and bottom left is a reference for what the doll would have originally looked like (I however don't have before photos of my specific doll). Her face was painted with acrylics and pastels, with Mr. Super Clear sealant in between layers. I won't be painting her body since her costume will cover everything, although I will just paint her hands either green like her skin or black for gloves - who knows.
I used a stretchy fleece fabric for her cropped hairstyle (I have no idea what her actual hair is meant to look like but I'm rolling with this😅) and glued it down with a craft super glue. The sewing pins held it in place while it cured.
And here she is with her paper mache headdress base cap drying in front of the wood heater because I'm impatient and hate waiting.
Anyway, that's Luminara's introduction. There's a bunch of other dolls that will gradually pop up here too so feel free to stick around till then.
