Went off my course a little bit because i always wanted to do this little material ball exercise I've seen from other artists. Some worked out better than others -- I could have spent more time on the meat and water, honestly. But I learned a decent amount!
Rather than work off of what I thought these materials looked like I tried as best as I could to find photo reference and work off of those (which is why some of the lighting is inconsistent tbh -- I broke my head trying to translate some materials with very direct light into neutral diffuse light).
But it was a lot of fun and I'd encourage other people to try it if they want to dip into painting! It was also a good 'reset,' because I definitely got ideas into my head about how materials are represented or work but under actual observation I found that not to be the case.
Also bonus greyscale painting I did for homework as well that I can't figure out where else to put
