basically dc really likes their blonde white women and i wanted to take a stab at redesigning some of them, lables and design notes undercut!
ok these r mainly for fun and just me being silly but i wanted to note that my matrix is super different from the og bc i think it would be cool to give her lana langs superwoman design instead of giving lana powers, i havent read her superwoman run so i cant say i hate it or anything but conceptually it just doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me, plus i think making mae look so different from kara would make it easier to bring her back into the main timeline
also i hc lana as east asian so since mae is based off lana so is she
smaller notes r i really love the red daughter concept for kara so she gets red eyes as a treat, plus i love the idea of the kryptonian brush that can change her hair color but i think she does it so often the color of her hair just started to bleed so she cant go full blonde anymore, almost like a screen burn so now it grows in brown
harely and dinah both wear wigs! i think in recent canon they made it so dinah dyes her hair but i personally love the wig so it stays (im not 100% sure she dyes it but i never see her with different hair anymore so im just assuming i dont read a lot of her) dinah doesnt bleach her eyebrows tho but harley does!
everyone else was kinda vibes based lol, i also changed their eye colors based on hcs, harely wears contacts, she has naturally brown eyes and greta gets to keep her blue eyed stare
My favorite Supergirl Minis (1-11 issues) and Elseworlds. I made this list because I have been asked in the past about how I collect comic when it is such a daunting task with characters that are over 50 years old. I find it is nice to include the little runs that are easy to mark off as finished (and elseworld's are often short too.)
Honorary Mention that fits both categories:
Supergirl:The World This is a graphic novel released June 2nd 2026. It is an anthology of stories by writers from around world. Many can easily be in-continuity (a requirement I put on myself for the mini series), but many would effectively need to be an elseworld. Its stories range from mid to phenomenal, not bad given Kara's track record. It is currently my top comic of the year!

Supergirl Minis
Superman/Supergirl: Maelstrom (2009): 5 issues: Let’s go camping says the smalltown Kansas farm boy. Let’s not says the NYC girl. Enjoy a space camping trip with our favorite Kryptonians as Kara learns some life lessons along the way. This trip will have bonding, and adventure. Much needed read if you enjoy the family dynamic between Kal and Kara.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2021) 8 issues: Follow Kara Zor-El as she is dragged back into her grief all to teach a little girl about the pitfalls of revenge and giving into anger. Despite flaws in the writing, it depicts a strong Kara who though seemingly tired bitter at times, is full of compassion and kindness. It also has some of the most moving art found in comics to date. (I recommend reading some of Kara's history with anger before this, but it isn't necessary. I think it just adds to it.)
Supergirl Special (2023) 1 Issue: Kara Zor-El knows who she is, but that is not how identity crisis work sadly. Follow Kara through complex feelings of identity as she looks to the past, and also the present where she co-exists with her multidimensional duplicate Power Girl. This is collected into TPB Supergirl:Universe’s End
Supergirl Vol. 3 (1994) 4 issues: This series explores the relationship between Mae and Lex. While this story ties up a lot of lose ends from Action Comic, it is well written and is actually very beginner friendly if new to Mae. You have built in plot that explain origin, and you get to see the confident hero she is in action.
Supergirl Vol.1 (1974): Follow Kara through her second college experience. Not only is she back in school, but you will see every side of Kara in this series of one-shots donning one of her most iconic fits .This series, not intended to be a limited, has a clear influence from the changing comic industry of the 70s. It is an enjoyable read none the less.
Supergirl Elseworld's
Supergirl: Being Super (2017) 4 Issues: In the Action Comics #275, Kara daydreams about being adopted by the Kents. This coming of age story is an elseworld’s homage to that, but pulls from Kara’s lore and keeps Kara distinctly her, despite a similar origin.
Supergirl's Family Vacation (2026) 1 issue: Kara Zor-El was sent away from a dying city. She never gives up hunting for it though. In this children’s series she finds it alive and bustling years later. The only option for the teen girl? A family road trip. This is a story about heroics, belonging, self-awareness, and enjoying the journey.
Supergirl: Wings (2001) 1 issue: Follow the guardian angel Matrix as she attempt to help a human Linda Danvers, ultimately questioning her love for humanity. This story focus heavily on redemption and plays with religious tones initially brought into Supergirl lore in the 1996 run.
Elseworld's Finest (1997) 1 issue: This story tells us what happens to Kara in a world without Superman, and Babs if her Father had died saving the Waynes. It portrays pre-crisis Kara’s personality differences from Kal well, even though basically she takes his place. The art is very 90s though.
Supergirl Survive (2026) 6 issues, still in print: Follow a timeline where Kara not only has to raise Kal, but travel the cosmos with him to get to Earth. This is a much awaited elseworld since Kara was reintroduced as to being older than Kal. It’s placement may change as it released. It is visually stunning.
