Announcement

1st Announcement

I hope to be doing a podcast recapping season 1 and season 2 of Black Sails with a bit more focus on the characters of John and Max, what they are specifically doing in these episodes, the growth of these characters, and of course their interaction with each other.

I’ll be the only host of this podcast, so you won’t be hearing debates or more than one idea or perspective, which is why I’m encouraging you guys to also join me on this podcast venture. I want to hear your thoughts and feelings about each episode, this is a small fandom, and an even smaller ship fandom.

I’ll be using a good quality recorder app, very easy to use, nothing fancy, to do this podcast. If you want to join this podcast venture you guys can go through itunes, or google/play store or amazon, or whatever and find the right recorder app for you, it doesn’t matter if the podcast is 5 minutes or 60 plus minutes, I’ll reblog it on this very blog.

I’ll start posting on December 4th and every day (except the weekends) until the premiere.

I’m looking for some people to help run this blog, maybe 2 or 3 people, I am also specifically looking for someone who can create gifs, so we can get some nice photosets, on here, and not rely on my beginner’s gifs or even me just making them.

So the Maxsilver speculation has been going on since forever, Season 1 to be exact, with the first episode hinting at these two finally getting closure on their initial plan to escape together. It’s not just fans speculation, there is the Treasure Island hint as well as various articles coming to the same conclusion. Not something folks are pulling from thin air; take twitter, facebook, tumblr, everyone has been mentioning this as a possibility because the signs and hints are there. One can’t help but wonder and tbh, it’s going to be fascinating if the story ever heads that way. 

I understand why this has a lot of shippers upset, but is this speculation really that far fetched? I don’t know if you can even call it a ship if one is assuming an absence of sexual attraction (although, technically, they have already had sex as well, according to Episode 101. Sure Silver can be asexual and Max a lesbian, they probably are, but how sure are we?), nonetheless, I guess it still comes under *ship* category if one is assuming they are end game. 

Take their brilliant, scheming personalities, their common ambitions, and the fact that whenever they have wanted to get shit done one turns to the other. Trusts them, even. I think from a writing perspective, it would be a fantastic twist for the two most cunning to outsmart the rest of Nassau and live to tell the tale. 

After all, from the looks of it, Max will pull an Eleanor on Anne in Season 3, as was expected. Even JPK hinted at that, that she thinks Max wants Jack around so that he could “take Anne away” when shit hits the fan. When the British arrive, she will need an exit strategy and being entangled with Rackhanne, who are both unwilling to surrender, would seem like a bad idea. I think over time, Anne might return to her, but not before the inevitable happens to Jack and not before Max is at the place of security where she needs to be. 

It’s saddening really that some folks are quick to dismiss the huge potential in Maxsilver just because it’s a hetero ship. Seriously? I would take a mutually beneficial relationship based on strategics and good fortune over a toxic, unequal relationship any day. This show is primarily about characters and their journeys and I am glad the writers are going to do right by them, no matter what that means for what ship.  

 ^if these two end up planning anything they will be absolutely unstoppable; flawless maneuvering and mutual respect for the other’s cunning. True equals in every way. And if this is what the writers decide, I am so here for it :)

I love when Max and John are in the same scene... my favorite is when she is sitting on his lap. But do you think Max will be attracted to him even though he lost his leg? And what do u think the sex will be like?

Same, I love both characters so much.

I mean I am still attracted to John and he lost his leg, so if Max found him attractive before, she should continue to do so, unless she’s shallow.

As for the sex, I have no idea, maybe brutal and passionate, hair pulling and scratches and shit, or it could be gentle and soft which would be the opposite of how they act when they’re doing business., cause they’re a bit ruthless when it comes to money.

I just recently watched s1 of Sails and I'm on episode 5 of s2 right now. When I realised how important Max was to the story it just clicked she HAS to be the wife John (in the book) leaves to collect all their money, sell their inn and meet him with the treasure. The wife would have to know everything to go for that, more than know, have experienced it all, know for a fact the treasure is more than a story. Anne and Jack will meet Mary eventually so her time with them is closing...

This may be really late, tumblr hid some messages, that only showed up once I logged out.

But yeeeessss, I am praying that what makes sense actually becomes canon, seriously did you see the trailer, they’re still trying to continue the maxanne ship, normally I wouldn’t mind when the people I ship are with others, but the maxanne dynamic was all over the place, it was never clear.

Season 3 is all about Blackbeard, so I don’t see Mary making an entrance any time soon, I hope she does in the next season, but it is possible that Max may fill in multiple roles since she is an original character,
