"Ethan! My God, Ethan," Benji first screamed out, then breathed way more softly.

Luther had told him to go and find the kidnapped Ethan while he would take care of the bad guys not getting to them.

A heavily bruised Ethan was hanging shackled to a wall. His bare chest was bloody, scars running all over it. He looked almost dead.

"I-I'll get you out of here. Don't you worry."

Benji knew that it would be incredibly hard to carry the unconscious body through the hallways, but he would do it.

Anything for Ethan. Anything for the man he loved.

Caretaker stared in horror at the screen, Whumpee was pulled tight to the ground by chains and pulled at them violently as Whumper stepped closer. Whumper turned to the camera and pulled a taser from his coat pocket, waving it around to make sure both Caretaker and Whumpee understood what it was.

"Now Caretaker, since you continue to be uncooperative, you've left me no choice but to resort to more...drastic measures."

"Caretaker! Don't listen to them! Don't-"

Caretaker watched in horror as Whumper drove the taser hard into Whumpee's shoulder. Whumpee convulsed against the chains, their screaming echoing against the walls. As the taser was removed, they collapsed, their chains clanking loudly on the floor.

"Whumpee! " Caretaker called, despite knowing they couldn't be heard.

"There's plenty more where that came from. I won't kill them of course, but you know as well as I do that there are things far worse than death."

Caretaker shook, whether from rage or fear they were unsure. Whumper made eye contact with them through the camera.

"You will follow orders. Otherwise, your poor friend here will face the consequences."

Caretaker gently set down the screen. There was only one choice to make. They grabbed the old mask that Whumpee had spent so long removing, and once again, they became no one. An obedient shadow.

"I'll save you Whumpee. I promise...Until then, I'll keep you safe."

Cruella pushed her hair back as she snapped the last shackle around Lumina’s wrist. “Alright, get up.”

It took some effort, her joints still aching. But she stood, the new chains weighing her down from where they were joined at her back on the metal belt around her waist.

“Walk around.” Cruella ordered.

That took effort, too. She could only really shuffle, the chains behind her legs were tight from how they were linked around her ankles. They were just long enough she could move a foot at a time, not enough to take a full striding step. When she was ordered to lift her arms, those chains were the same. She could only lift her hands up to her shoulders by bending her elbows.

She heard Fox-face laugh behind her. “Good, now the brat can’t run.”

Lumina bit her tongue to hold back the retort on her lips. They knew full well she wouldn’t risk losing her chance at rehabilitation by trying to run.

At least for this new punishment they let her wear something, even if it was just a sports-bra and shorts. She still felt like she was shaking from the cold that she doubted would ever leave her bones.

The idea of being already more vulnerable than she was now… She just… She didn’t want to think about it. Not with what she suspected they were holding back from doing to her.

Keeping her face neutral, she did her best to hide her internal unease from the women around her. If they were going to keep treating her like an Expendable, she would keep her cool, keep her fear under wraps. She wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of getting to her.

Day 8: Shackled

Violin strings wrapped around Salieri’s heart, each time he laid eyes on Mozart’s composition, seeing the countless, genious patterns swirling before his eyes, evoking painful wonder.

How could he breathe, when those strange symphonies touched his core?

But their composer did not notice.

Didn’t notice -  when Salieri’s eyes began to glare, envy and adoration alike.

Didn’t notice - how Salieri was shackled to his seat, when the instruments began to play.

Helpless, powerless, subdued by music he should hate, composed by the person he should hate - but how could he?

Mozart made him feel .

Something Salieri would never achieve by himself.
