Buck can't focus on the movie. He tries, he really does, but it feels like someone is taking a jagged knife to his lower abdomen and twisting.

He knew after having to switch brands for his injections thanks to his insurance that there was a chance his cycle could come back, but fuck. He forgot how much of a pain in the ass it was before he started T.

Back then, it'd get so bad that he would have to call out sick for school or work because he was in so much pain it made him physically sick. Finding a good birth control, and later on starting testosterone, helped immensely before they eventually stopped. It's been years since the last time he had a period.

A particularly painful cramp hits and he grimaces, biting back a groan. All he wants to do is curl up with a heating pad and Midol and wait for it to pass.

Tommy grabs the remote and pauses the movie. "What was that? You winced. Are you feeling okay, babe?"

Buck almost doesn't want to tell him. He likes Tommy (thinks he could love him, even) but Tommy is a cis, gay man. Buck has heard the horror stories. Tommy has been completely fine with Buck being trans, but he never signed up for dealing with this.

"I'm okay. Just some, uh, cramps is all. It's fine."

Tommy frowns, looking sympathetic. "Oh, you could've said something if your leg was bothering you." Buck wishes it was just his leg. "Want me to grab the tiger balm?"

Buck clears his throat and looks down at his lap. "Not that kind of cramp. I had to change my testosterone recently, and it's–it's taking my body a minute to adjust. So it's knocked my hormones off balance, and I'm having a period again for the first time in years."

"Oh." Tommy doesn't sound disgusted by it. Buck risks a glance up at him and sees sympathy still shining in his eyes. "I'm sorry, Evan. Is there anything I can do to help?"

Buck gives him a small smile. "Actually, yeah. Could you get the heating pad I have upstairs?"

Tommy is gently pulling away from Buck and standing up before he's even done speaking. He leans down and gives him a quick kiss, and another pressed to his forehead. "Of course. I'll be right back."

Yeah, Buck could definitely love Tommy.
