Histology steak puns are a rare medium well done

The reticular dermis of the skin is composed of dense irregular connective tissue and it never fails to remind me of a perfectly marbled wagyu steak with its type I collagen fiber bundles cut in longitudinal & cross section and arranged into fascicles.

This arrangement imparts the perfect biomechanical properties to the skin. Thick collagen bundles are great at resisting tensile forces and the fact that these bundles run in all directions means that no matter which direction the skin is pulled in, there's always collagen fiber bundles running in the same plane to resist those tensile forces. If you think about how much your skin is stretched tight during everyday movement you can see how well suited this arrangement is!

Antibody identification would be fun if the consequences for messing it up weren't so dire. Blood bank is terrifying tbh. I do enjoy it despite the constant fear.

My instructor gave me a bunch of antibodies to identify for optional extra credit. I made 100 on my antibody ID practical, I'm just really scared of missing something.

Do you ever get so overwhelmed and stressed from everything in life at once that you botch a test that you've spent weeks studying for?

I went to go look over it with my prof and had a total breakdown.

So instead of going over my test, I sat and cried while my prof calmed me down.
