Amazing Saturday phase 3: final phase: John Doe - the universe smiled upon me; and me and my longtime bestie of 34 years (who took me to see John Doe solo for the first time in 1993/4 at Slim’s in San Francisco) managed to sit right up front for the show so we could properly enjoy his dulcet tones, just like we did back in the day 🖤 I made a song request (“Dying to Get Home”) which was very well received (and played!), and we had the most lovely meeting after the show (we both have met home many times over the years). I got my grubby little hands on that set list, heard some of my favorite songs, and had the most wonderful evening to cap off the most amazing day. And we also met TONY HAWK!!! 🤯 . Thank you so much @adamsavesd @steve_kader @not_julie_its_julia and all those responsible for such a rad event!! It was really, really special. Thank you @theejohndoe and @tonyhawk for being so gracious, and thank you @malcriadamoda for always making sure I knew what the fuck was cool for the last 30 or so years. Hollywood legends thanks to @travelinggentleman Gary Cooper @gary_cooper_official and Barbara Stanwyck in Frank Capra’s wonderful “Meet John Doe” (1941). Stanwyck was born on the 16th of July 1907 as Ruby Catherine Stevens. 🥂🍾✨ I love this movie and I also love Capra’s and Cooper’s other collaboration “Mr. Deeds Goes to Town” (1936).
