Overload, Substandard Materials Caused Meiran Building Collapse – LASG
The Lagos State Government on Sunday attributed the building collapse which occurred at 7 Saidu Okeleji Street, Meiran in Agbado Oke -Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of the State on Saturday to heavy loads placed on the building and substandard materials used for the construction work.

The Rise of Voltron
Kerberos: Moon of Pluto
Meiran’s warm breath continually fogged up the inside of her helmet as she worked, hands all but shaking as she carefully began to remove the ice sample that had been gathered from beneath the layers of snow on Kerberos. She was attempting to control her own excitement so as to not jostle or ruin the precious sample, accompanied only by her husband and their assistant researcher on the desolate moon that had taken them seemingly forever and a day to reach. She couldn’t contain her excitement any longer over being on the cusp of making history, able to feel something changing, something on the brink of discovery within her gloves, as she removed the ice from the extraction machine.
“This is history in the making, traveling farther than anyone ever has,” she said in a reverent voice, handling the sample to move it to containment as she looked to her husband Chang. “No one has ever been so far in our solar system as we are, right now… and we’re looking in the ice for clues- so that we can possibly use these clues to be the first to meet aliens- other life!” She blushed as she saw the look in Chang’s eyes, setting the sample into its proper holding container, her eyes traveling for any possible signs of life, of debris in the ice. “Do you- ah!” The very ground began to shake beneath their feet, jostling their equipment, shattering the ice sample that they had so meticulously gathered. Her feet slipped in the snow, all three of them having been caught unawares as Chang Wufei took the lead, taking command from his overly excited wife, all thee of them thrown off guard by the tremble of the ice.
“Seismic activity, go back to the ship!” That was the first step he told himself, needing to get Meiran to safety, first and foremost. He saw her hesitation, looking back towards the sample, the turn of her head alerting him to a far more immediate threat, an impossible threat, as a massive purple and black ship seemed to be flying straight at them.
“RUN!” He ordered, grabbing her hand as he had them abandon their equipment, leaving everything behind as he attempted a mad dash for the ship, scared, but not for himself. Their feet crunched as they kicked up snow, breathing heavily in their space suits, trying to get away, all of it for nothing. His heart was in his throat, needing his Meiran safe, needing to get away from the threat that was shaking the very ground beneath their feet, the aliens that she had been so keen on getting to know- “run!” He insisted, calling back to her in his native tongue, rather than in English, his fears betraying him as they locked eyes before they began to lift up into the air, as a red hued beam of light surrounded all three of them, and began to lift them up, despite their struggles. With the beam, came fatigue, a sensation so strong that it overcame Wufei’s fear- and he passed out before entering his captor’s ship.
“Commander Zechs.” Wufei slowly opened his eyes, feeling as though he’d been hit in the chest with a pile of bricks. He hurt all over, and his head was fuzzy, as though it had been stuffed with cotton. But he forced his eyes to stay open, rather than succumb to his own body’s weakness. He glanced over, a little too quickly to his right, seeing Meiran’s suit and their research assistant, with no visible wounds or tears to her helmet or outfit. He wasn’t thinking too clearly, but he could process that that was a good thing, unable to take in his surroundings as quickly as he would have liked, as the voice drew his attention away from his wife and the foreign ship.
“We found these scientists, but we don’t know if they know anything useful… they were on the frozen moon, at the end of our territory.” That voice- a woman? He couldn’t focus properly, neither his mind, nor his eyes. But he could make out the large screen that the woman was talking to. A man? A-a blond man. Why were aliens speaking in English? He couldn’t think much past that question, the thought of it filling his head, as the blond man began to speak. A commander? Commander Zechs, she had said.
“Begin the interrogation, druids will find out what they know for certain,” the man said. Wufei’s mind finally cleared some, enough for him to recognize that Meiran wasn’t moving- that he had to do something!
“We come from a peaceful planet,” Wufei said quickly, drawing attention to himself as he called out to the man on the screen. To plead for his wife’s sake, rather than his own. To try and be diplomatic with their captors. He had never thought to actually encounter aliens, such advanced technology- “we’re unarmed, we mean no harm!” He tried to explain, hoping for leniency, for a peaceful negotiation. “We’re scientists! Scholars-!”
A blow came that he never even saw coming, knocking him out once more.
When he opened his eyes again, he saw what only could have been cells- through a window in a corridor he saw hundreds and hundreds of cells, going up higher and down lower than he could hope to see, making his black eyes go wide with fear. What sort of a place had he let them be taken to?
“They brought in another one.”
One year later.
“Okay! This is Galaxy Garrison Flight Log, beginning descent to Kerberos for rescue mission!” Duo snickered to himself, having done this procedure so many times that it felt like child’s play to him. Violet eyes shined as he looked to the screen before him, never feeling so quite as comfortable as he did when he was sitting in the pilot’s chair. But his crew members? The braided brunet peeked over his shoulder, seeing that they were a little too comfortable… well, he could fix that. “Oh no, we’re going… sideways!” He called, bringing the ship to a sharp left as they moved ever closer to the surface of Kerberos, snickering as he jostled both of his crew, almost throwing them out of their seats.
“Do that again,” Trowa said flatly as he dug his hands into his own control panel, trying oh so very hard not to simply reach forward and to give that flopping braid a nice hard tug, to get their pilot to take this seriously.
“We’ve picked up a distress beacon,” Quatre said quickly, before anything could escalate between Trowa and Duo, paying attention to his own set of tasks, as he turned his full attention to the radar.
“Alright, look alive! Quatre, I’m gonna ask you to track coordinates bro,” Duo said, giving the ship another sharp movement, before there was a movement done by the ship that had absolutely nothing to do with how Duo was attempting to annoy Trowa.
“Hydraulic stabilizer out-,”
“The shaking’s interfering with the sensors,” Quatre added, as the readings on his screen began to malfunction, his face drawing up in frustration, with all his readings askew. And there was that shaking-! Now the entire space craft was shaking, and it wasn’t due to any fancy maneuvers.
“Trowa, this is all yours buddy!” Duo announced, making the shaggy haired engineer unbuckle from his seat and go over to Quatre’s side of the flight deck to see if there was anything to be done from inside the helm- to at least get the shaking to lessen some, if not stop.
“Sensors offline!” Quatre said, as another hard rock of the ship took out one of the screens entirely, forcing Trowa to grab onto Quatre’s shoulders for balance, lest he fall to the ground, hands digging into the standard suit as Trowa tried with every ounce of willpower to remained focus on the task at hand, rather than to beat the brains out of their obnoxious pilot. “We no longer have a firm lock on their location-,” Quatre said, another rock of the ship moving his hands up to grab Trowa’s own on his shoulders.
“There she blows! Beginning approach on visual,” Duo said with full confidence as the surface of the moon filled the front of the ship, and he attempted to begin standard procedures, as Trowa released Quatre to try and work on stabilizing the ship.
“That’s not advisable based on current mechanical issues!” Quatre reminded him, blue eyes wide as he attempted to fix the flickering screens, save the bumping ride of the ship had Trowa holding onto him to stay steady every few seconds.
“Aw Quatre, this Baby can handle it- look, she’s nodding-!” He insisted, as another bump hit the ship, forcing Quatre to grab onto the dash board to stay steady, despite being strapped into his. chair. Duo, oblivious, or at least acting as such, continued his descent towards the planet.
“Alert lunar vessel we’re approaching. Got that buddy?” He asked, keeping the whole of his attention on not letting them crash, despite his flippant attitude. “Hail down and let them know their ride is here. Trowa, stop the shaking!” He almost snapped that time, the shaking actually starting to get to him, though he was 110% certain that no maneuver he had done ought to have messed with their hydraulics so severely.
“Attention lunar vessel, this is-!” Quatre’s words got cut off as Trowa knocked into him, throwing his headset askew.
“Trowa, if you can’t fix it, buckle your belt!” Duo ordered, sending Trowa back to his side of the helm as he tried to stay in control, despite the death glare he took to the back of the head.
“This is galaxy garrison rescue craft 1-victor 63 tango! Coming in for landing and extraction,” Quatre said quickly, the communication systems still up and running, even if the hydraulics and sensors were out.
Trowa continued giving evil looks to the back of Duo’s head, imagining how nice it would be to simply chop off that long braid. His eyes did all the talking for him, his mouth staying in a tight line until Quatre finished. “If I’d known you needed driving lessons, I could have taken you to the DMV.” He strapped himself into his proper seat as the shaking progressively got worse, and they approached the planet’s surface.
“I don’t need lessons in how to sass your ass, and you know what they say! Back seat drivers, no survivors. So no comments from the peanut gallery, or I’ll take you to the circus to feed the elephants!” His hands were shaking at the controls, his knuckles white as he vied for control of the craft.
“Look out for that overhang!” Quatre cried, looking up from his scanners to the front, gesturing to the thick loop of ice that Duo was flying straight at.
“Hey, chill bro! You know what they used to call me in flight school? They called me the tailor because of how I thread the needle,” he said with a snicker, as he headed for the opening, like he knew exactly what he was doing.
“We lost a wing,” Trowa informed them as the ship passed under the loop with a jarring shake that was somehow worse than all the ones previously.
Duo had only two words to say to that. “Aw, man.”
“Simulation failed.”
