Last night's book launch at MING Studios.
One word: Honor
One made-up-hyphenated word: heart-full-oceanic-love-cocooning-body-story
The room was full. Literally. Not enough seats.
My heart was fuller.
Too many to list (and fear of leaving someone out) of those who carved time in their lives for this event, just know that I saw you in the audience, that your presence offered me peace, that you mean the world to me.
And even more for those who live afar or who had other plans and sent me personal messages of encouragement.
I felt you.
I felt seen.
I felt that my adopted sister, Tina, was heard.
I am deeply humbled.
Grateful.
To the three incredible performing artists and dancers (Kelli Brown, Lisa Whitwell, and Madi Miller) from Off Center Dance Project - you held my story. You held me.
To Amber Helton (Tyler Helton incredibly talented artist-wife), thank you for all the love you infused in the cover art, the inner art, my heart.
To J.R. Rivero Kinsey and Jason Morales at MING Studios for offering sacred and safe space to share a difficult narrative.
To Eric Morago at Moon Tide Press for believing in this project and help me see it through despite his incredibly busy life and schedule.
To Betty Rodgers for her amazing sharp editorial skills and her even more amazing heart.
To my dear friend Lorene Oates who has listened, seriously, listened to every piece of writing over the last 20 years...late into the night, early in the morning, across state lines and holidays. True Blue.
To Harrison Solow for her beautiful introduction of me and her incredible heart-full friendship.
And....
My three sons....there would be no ME without you.
