Female arrancars with a human s/o that loves giving them affection
As usual, Halibel's girls are excluded from the group for tag-limit reasons. Feel free to request them separately later, if you want~ :3
. . .
Lilynette
Somewhere between reflexively nope about it and really, really desperate for the attention. Lilynette is easily embarrassed by soft, fluffy, couple-y things, so too much affection is kind of unbearable. That said, she's also highly clingy and wants your attention constantly, so it's not like she hates the behavior, either. Just get used to her being aggressively flustered about it.
Halibel
She'll stoically accept the affection, for the most part, not showing much of a reaction other than silent, subtle approval... but the reality is that Halibel just really doesn't know how to respond. Someone treating her so softly is completely new, and the flustered, tender feelings it gives her are hard to process. It's pleasant, but so much affection takes some getting used to.
Nelliel
She's perfectly content to soak up all the affection you have to offer, and repay it with plenty of love of her own! For an Arrancar, Nelliel is uniquely comfortable with that sort of thing, and it shows. She also has no sense of shame (or timing) when it comes to PDA, so if you're the one to start it, she's all too willing to aggressively glomp you at any available opportunity.
Cirucci
For a good while, she absolutely cannot handle it. Every time you get too fluffy and affectionate, Cirucci is pushing you away and snapping at you for being weird. She has no idea how to process the constant attention, especially not when you're dead-set on being all soft and sappy and utterly human. There's an adjustment period, for sure, but she does eventually come to like it better.
Loly
Loves it. Loly is greedy for affection to the max, and will end up terribly demanding if you spoil her too much. Expect a terrible brat who will happily seat herself in your lap whenever she pleases to seek cuddles and your wonderful human warmth, with nasty, jealous tantrums should you ever show her less affection than usual. Be careful how much you encourage her...
Menoly
Very, very shy about the amount of attention you give her, but not necessarily against it. All of the affection just... kind of makes her want to curl up and cry. It's almost pitifully easy to turn Menoly into a blushing, stammering mess, too overwhelmed to even form words properly anymore, but despite the slight panic, she really does appreciate that you're so affectionate and kind.
Bleach AU where everything's the same but Hanataro stays with the Karakura Gang Part 3
I really liked Menoly's design. it's shame she was such just kind of a weird tag along to Loly, who was already a B-list arrancar. Also a shame she just kinda turned out to be a punching bag. She was cute. She didn't deserve to be lumped in with Loly's crazy stalker Aizen fangirl routine.
There's a funny bit of trivia, her birthday is 12/7, and Loly's is 1/27 and they're both a pun on 1 2 7: "hito two (n)ana" hitotsuana[一つ穴] which literally just means "one hole" but means something like "the same type" or just "(a) group" in the sense that "they're all the same type"/"they're all part of the same group," "they all get put in the same hole."(it's also one way to refer to a "gang.")
But despite that joke and the fact that she and Loly seem to have two complimentary halves of an identical mask design, Menoly actually doesn't seem all that like minded with Loly in her meangirl villainy? Menoly doesn't get a lot of lines or characterization in general, but she often seems pretty hesitant about their attempts to bully Orihime. She's nervous about being caught. She watches the door rather than participate. She actively tries to get Loly to leave Orihime alone after the whole Grimmjow incident. We only really see her show any kind of animosity once to defend Loly against Grimmjow, and technically in a background shot when the girls go after Orihime again during the earliest phase of the final Ulquiorra fight.
We actually last saw them both being healed by Orihime, yet again, along with the tres bestias during the Quilge fight, but they're barely visible in the background of a few panels.
(I forgot to format this in my normal way for appearances, but she's in chapters: 249, 272, 274, 277, 341-343, 349, 487, & 491.)
Bleach - Chapter 249
Oh and Loly and Menoly? What are they getting up to these days?
They are good I think? Chasing Aizen, running away when Grimmjow shows up, every time the same tale, nothing new!
(1 of 2) Lets see how you match me. I’m nonbinary. Polyamorous. 32. Physically, I am tall, have bright cherry red hair, green eyes, and very muscular physique. I am bisexual, but with preferences for more feminine/pretty looking boys and tough girls (mind wise, physically I’ve been attracted to everything from the super voluptuous to the incredibly wiry and petite).
(2 of 2) Careerwise, I’m a medically oriented scientist/technologist who works in a hospital in the radiology department. Personalitywise, I’m incredibly logical and calm, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t care deeply about people and ideas. I spend my spare time writing and creating art. I know four languages, collect themed essential oil blends, and plan to visit all 7 continents. Who do I take with me?
Is very, very, very interested in your work. He’ll often be asking about it regardless of the situation, mostly about specifics of how exactly you do what you do and how the human body works. He’s fascinated. You’re like a wealth of new information for him and he intends to pick your brain as much as you allow him to. Probably best to set limits do he doesn’t do something like wake you up in the middle of the night because a question struck him.
He values your logic, if only because he really wishes he could be more composed himself. He acts mature, but he looses his cool rather quickly a lot of the time. Maybe some of yours will rub off on him! Goodness knows the man could use a positive influence.
The languages are something that trip him up and yet also interest him. If you speak a language he doesn’t already know fluently (which would be English and Spanish are what he speaks fluently), he’ll be prodding at you a bit to teach him. Especially if it’s a useful, widespread language that a lot of people use in the human world. He’ll also very likely study it on his own when you’re either not around or just sick of trying to teach him.
He’s probably going to borrow (steal) your essential oil blends. In his defense, a lot of them make him feel really calm, which is no small feat, and he will eventually replace them. They’re just… nice.
Traveling the human world??? Why not? It seems like a good way to learn about different cultures and see as much of this place as possible. He tries to act like a reasonable person, but you’ll either have to watch him closely or put him on a child leash, because if he sees something that catches his attention, he wanders.
Appreciates how composed you are most of the time. Even though she loves all the friends she’s had so far, most of the friends she’s picked (like Loly) have been very hotheaded and easily agitated. Someone calmer like you – and the romance maybe plays a part in it as well – is less likely to push her into doing things she doesn’t really want to do.
Your work doesn’t really interest her that much, just because a lot of the details and such tend to go over her head. That said, though, she’ll listen if you want to talk about it, and she is very interested in your art and writing.
She really likes your muscles. That’s probably the thing she finds most physically attractive about you, and given free reign once she gets more comfortable with affection, she’ll happily sit there and wrap her arms around one of yours, her hand against your shoulder, for hours on end.
She’s actually a pretty good travel companion, when she gets acclimated to how the human world works. She doesn’t say every little thing that pops into her head (like Szayel), she sleeps most of the time on the plane, and she’s willing to do pretty much whatever you want at every place.
While traveling, she likes to get things for you at the gift shop wherever you’ve stopped. Probably better not to ask where she got the money? (Don’t worry; she pretty much just charms cashiers into giving her some little thing for free. It’s not stealing if they give it willingly, right?) All the stuff she gets is the same type of thing, like keychains or postcards, so you’re gonna have a new collection soon.
i’ve been re-watching bleach recently and just... what if orihime was allowed to have a real impact?
not just in fight scenes but like
what if menoly and loly were more than afraid when orihime resurrects menoly? what if they realize her strength is not just terrifying or something to beat down, but something that could potentially be worth following? what if orihime’s time in las noches does more than bring ichigo to heuco mundo?
(maybe not right away. maybe menoly and loly flee before ulquiorra arrives, maybe the realization that they don’t know the extent of orihime’s powers is slow to arrive, but it does arrive. orihime could surpass everything they know, if she were just a bit stronger, a bit more determined. and it would be sort of strength that does not ignore their own existences.)
a waver in menoly and loly’s loyalty to aizen might not change much... at first. their fear is still there, not so easy to ignore, but they watch a little, find out that orihime is the type to waver, only to come back more determined. orihime is kind, even when she has no reason to be.
they ask other arrancar what they have seen of her powers, and a bit of the loyalty they show to aizen starts to chip away. theirs and the arrancar they talk to, the ones who hear about a woman who brought one of them back to life without asking for anything in return, who chooses to be soft and manages to be strong at the same time. the arrancar who see people around them being killed for no reason, who don’t want the same thing to happen to them.
it starts as fear, but it turns into a possibility.
it turns into aizen’s army wavering, all because of one act of empathy from a woman who had only received hurt and violence.
