Mental maps

You can use interactive mental images or interactive vision to imagine a mental map for places with each mental map being triggered by thinking about that mental map's place. Shape mental map: - Each type of thing has a shape. For example, all large things may get a rectangle shape and all small things may get a circle shape. Event mental map: - Each event in an area is represented by something and can be categorized by important, dangerous, etc. Optional: - An arrow showing where you are going in a mental map.

Mentale stadskaarten zoals die van Chaz Hutton of Jan Rothuizen, maar dan in een webapp. Hoodmaps is schijnbaar een jaar geleden al viral gegaan, maar ik kwam het onlangs pas tegen. Het is een website met crowdsourced kaarten waar bezoekers steden kunnen indelen in gebieden voor hipsters, toeristen, rijken, normies, pakken en uni’s. Uiteindelijk geeft het een overzicht van hoe de buurten en steden worden gezien door de bewoners/gebruikers. De website is gebouwd door Pieter Levels. Net zo briljant is Nomadlist, als onderdeel van zijn project 12 Startups in 12 Months.

PSYCHOGEOGRAPHY

is an exploration of urban environments that emphasizes playfulness and "drifting". It has links to the Situationist International and was defined in 1955 by Guy Debord as "the study of the precise laws and specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavior of individuals." or "a whole toy box full of playful, inventive strategies for exploring cities... just about anything that takes pedestrians off their predictable paths and jolts them into a new awareness of the urban landscape." Flâneur – is someone who wanders around the city with the purpose of experiencing it.  [that’s pretty much me] Mental Map – is a person's point-of-view perception of their area of interaction. […]
