PAIN BUILDS CHARACTER — stitched not just in thread, but in truth.
This hoodie isn’t fashion, it’s armor. For those who’ve been through the fire and came out forged. Heavyweight, unapologetic, and made to be worn like a statement.
Wear your scars. Let the world know what built you. 🔥
Summary: Caught in a treacherous current that echoes past trauma and coercive command, Imamiah nearly loses himself to the sea before anchoring his will to Kerubiel’s steady presence and reclaiming both body and mind.
Warning: Psychological distress and panic, Loss of control / coercion themes, References to past abuse and betrayal, Near-drowning imagery. LMK if I need to add anything.
The water pulled at Imamiah with a quiet menace, dragging him deeper than he intended. The undertow was subtle at first, a whisper against his body, then a relentless tug that made every stroke feel like wading through iron.
"Brother," Kerubiel’s voice crackled over the vox, urgent now. "You’re too far out! Fight it!"
Imamiah struggled against the invisible current, tail whipping as he tried to stabilize his course. His lungs burned, though he wasn’t drowning—at least, not yet. It was something worse: the ocean itself seemed to want him, as if it had learned to mimic the sharp, cruel commands of his older brothers.
*"I… I can’t—" Imamiah groaned, sending a pulse through the vox in frustration. His mind felt scattered, every thought jostled by memories of orders he hadn’t wanted to obey.
"You can," Kerubiel insisted, calm but firm. "Focus on me. Focus on Steelix Cliff. I won’t let you be dragged under."
Imamiah blinked water from his eyes, trying to anchor himself. He realized how small he was in the vast expanse of the ocean, how vulnerable—even with his enhanced body. The undertow wasn’t just water; it was the battlefield’s echo, a reminder of his brothers’ cruel experiments, the weight of duty and betrayal pressing from all sides.
"Kerubiel…" he gasped, tail thrashing. "It… it’s like the ocean is alive… like it remembers…"
"Then let it remember me too," Kerubiel said sharply. He extended a hand through the vox projection, shimmering in the water. "I’m here. Anchor yourself to me. Not them. Not the orders. Me."
Slowly, almost painfully, Imamiah’s strokes found rhythm again. The undertow fought him, twisting and turning, but he clung to Kerubiel’s presence like a lifeline. Every pulse of fear, every flash of memory of his brothers’ cold faces, became a challenge he forced himself to overcome.
Minutes—or hours—later, he broke free of the strongest pull, gasping and shaking, eyes wide with the raw intensity of the experience. The water around him seemed… calmer now, almost respectful, as if conceding victory to a will stronger than its own.
"Good," Kerubiel said, voice softening. "You made it, brother. That current wanted to take more than your body—it wanted your mind. But you’re not theirs. You’re still you."
Imamiah’s chest heaved as he clung to his friend. "I thought… I thought I was lost," he admitted, the first tremor of vulnerability surfacing. "I… didn’t know if I’d make it."
"You did," Kerubiel replied, the water reflecting a faint, protective shimmer around him. "And now, we move. Steelix Cliff awaits, and there’s work to do. But remember this, Imamiah: no current, no brother, no shadow of the past can claim you while you fight."
Imamiah nodded, swallowing the sting of saltwater and fear. The undertow had tested him, but it hadn’t broken him. And as long as Kerubiel was there, he knew he wouldn’t have to fight it alone.
Saturday Man returns?
No.
He never left.
You just stopped looking in places that didn’t need fixing.
He walks the city like a secret.
Not above it --
just around it.
Still in the group chat.
Still at the wedding.
Still cracking jokes that land like CPR.
Still the one they text when the new guy turns cruel.
But never the one held.
Never the one chosen.
Not because he’s unworthy --
but because he’s too stable to chase.
His powers?
🩸 Survivor of heartbreak.
⚔️ Last one standing in a ghost town of “almosts.”
🧠 Power to see everyone’s pain -- except his own.
🪞 Invisibility to people who say “I just want someone who listens.”
💔 Insert-only ability to be loved. No download available.
He is a Justice League of one.
Not because he’s a hero.
Because everyone else tapped out.
He doesn’t want pity.
He wants silence.
Not the kind that isolates --
the kind that understands.
Saturday comes.
He wakes up in his own arms again.
Coffee brewed with no second cup.
Groceries for one.
Thoughts for many.
He has mastered the art of texting “I’m good”
with teeth clenched so hard it registers as Morse code.
He’s been the rebound,
the therapist,
the upgrade-inspiring ex.
The blueprint they show the next guy
but never keep for themselves.
Still -- he stays kind.
Not soft.
Kind.
The difference is blood.
He doesn’t post sad quotes.
He doesn’t weaponize loneliness.
He just survives the weeks
that others don’t notice he’s struggling through.
If you ask him what he wants?
He won’t say “love.”
He’ll say “recognition.”
Not from the crowd.
From the person
he never asks for anything.
You.
Saturday Man has seen every version of himself
walk away from the mirror
just to come back again.
Smiling.
Shrugging.
Trying.
He is the backbone of the silent ones.
Not depressed --
compressed.
Stacked under roles he didn’t audition for
but performs anyway
because everyone else assumes he can handle it.
He does.
He always does.
That’s the curse.
Don’t cry for him.
Just…
if you see him walking
alone
again
this Saturday--
Don’t ask where he’s headed.
He doesn’t know.
He’s not going somewhere.
He’s being somewhere
that others never have to be.
And that’s his power.
Reblog if you’ve ever been the strong one who no one checked on.
Reblog if you’re still standing --
even when no one noticed you fell.

This is SO TRUE. I had an unmarried, childless, unemployed 30 something tell me she was "SO EXHAUSTINGLY BUSY" with the one "elective" class she's taking...literally what she always defaults to to show how busy her life is.
And I laughed. I didn't mean to....but I laughed. I couldn't help myself, and I gave no fucks about whether she was offended or not. I couldn't believe that with all of the freedom and opportunities in front of her, she chose to see "exhausting" and "busy" as what describes her life.
(And while this image/quote addresses moms, I think this is true for anyone who juggles many hats: dads, caretakers, guardians, etc)
Don't get me wrong...I get wild weeks with crazy overlapping schedules from school (kiddo and mine), work (hubby and mine), and life (throw in friends, extended family, pets, health & wellness stuff, basic shit to keep life running) that I could call busy.
But I honestly just love seeing it as a beautiful chaotic blessed adventure because life should be fully lived. My 40s have taught me how to thrive, enjoy taking risks, and be even more alive--and a lot of that starts in the mind.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, and I'm not saying I don't get exhausted or frazzled. But those are not my default thoughts when I look at my busy life. I just feel grateful and truly blessed. How depressing it would be if I simply looked at every little thing as busyness and exhausting. I guess that's the power of perception. Perspective and mental resilience is something that I think is invaluable at any age.
Onward. And cheers to all the crazy adventures life has to offer ❤️
For anyone who has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, or any other anxiety disorders, here is a link to an app I’ve been using for the past year and a half. There’s been a lot of updates recently. They have ERP (exposure therapy) and help you to change your thought patterns. The app also has many OCD themes and life challenges covered.
If you can’t afford therapy right now, I encourage you to invest in this app. (It’s like $35 for a year) Check it out!
