Meredith breaking free of societal expectations and being who she wants to be all because of Dick
Meredith trying so hard to be what people expect of her so that they'll FINALLY take her seriously, and then along comes Dick and he starts to be ehat people want him to be. But Meredith knows who he is is so much better then the generic rich kid everyone else wants
So she tells him to be himself. Only words aren't enough so she leads by example: she says what's on her mind, she dresses how she wants, she's loud and takes up space and doesn't apologize for any of it
And in the end she's so much happier then she was before
