Idk if this is a hot take or an unpopular opinion or not but i really hate how hateful the miraculous fandom is. The whole "no one hates the show miraculous more than it's fandom" isn't funny. Im tired of everyone being so salty about it. I know a lot of really shows w really shitty writing that don't have nearly as much haters. And call me salty but i hate how these people are even called a part of the fandom, call yourself what you are, a hater.
I love marinette. I said it. Im tired of seeing people hating her guts, that's a fictional character y'all, she does shitty stuff sometimes bc the writers think stalking is funny, that doesn't mean she's a monster. I hate how overused this word is but really we're running out of media literacy like it's a rare resource. "We want complex female characters" but when Mari makes a mistake you oversalt your food so much it tastes as bad as id imagine Gabriels pancakes do. I don't agree w her choises on season 6 and yes the writing is inconsistent and more than flawed and has thousands of plotholes in it. I'm salty about some things too, like them throwing Mari's character development out the window or the overtalked, wasted chance for redemption Chloe had, or how Adrienette got together, or how inconsistent Felix's character is. But you (or them idk who im talking to, hopefully this reaches the nice part of the fandom) criticizes it like a hater, not like someone that wants to enjoy the show.
Why are you people so mad? Who hurt you?
I was scrolling through the bbc Merlin tag for example and I saw a lot of people pointing out stuff about the plot that didn't make sense, or parts where the writing was really shitty and inconsistent. But it was obvious it was coming out of love for the show. I love reading/watching character analyses but i can't do that w this show bc people just seem to have a weirdly passionate hatred towards everything in the show and Mari specifically. Tho i recently found out people started hating Alya???? Which is absurd btw, i understand the hate for Mari to an extent but the only thing Alya did wrong is believing Lila, and while it did annoy me during my watch u can't seriously say her not trusting Mari blindly is a good enough reason to hate her.
Anyway, im not writing this bc i think im gonna change anyone's opinion. I actually think im gonna get more salt in return for my saltiness for the oversalting, something that might trigger a never ending circuit of salt. Or i just won't let them add more salt to my pancakes, but listen some salt just gets in there and it's exhausting. I just wanna have funnnnnn why is it everywhereeee
I just watched merlin show Arthur he has magic w the little fire dragon thing and tell me why i paused, got up from my bed, stared at the wall and then just sat back down to stare at that same wall for a few more seconds yes apparently this is how i react when im overwhelmed with feelings wtffff omgggg this is the moment y'all this is the moment i was waiting for and i fucking know Arthur won't react well but yk what's even more annoying???? He'll never know how truly powerful Merlin is or how much he did for him. He'll never meet some random magical man that'll tell him about the prophecies or kneel when they see Merlin and talk about the legends and how he'd the greatest sorcerer that'll ever live. He'll never truly understand how fucking amazing merlin is and how the shit he achieved is like 99% bc of him. Ugh and merlin crying??? Wtf dude??? God and Arthur's look damnit they love eachother so much gay or not they go deeper than bones I'm telling you, deeper than bones
Edit: at least we have Gaius telling him smt similar, it's not the same but... it's smt
God i love Gaius
Tell me this isn't Mike blushing then going like "oh shit i can't look gay he doesn't like me like that" and tries to act cool
It's so hard watching Mike on season 5 you guys, he's so whipped for Will i hope he likes him back...
He could at least try to make it less obvious tho, like come on man u don't even look at your girlfriend that way, have some decency...
"You wanna kiss me so bad it makes you look stupid"
Just watched the twilight movies for the first time (i only watched the first movie a few years ago) and daym Jasper is one eye candy when he doesn't look like he's having constipation or talking about colonization
(i need to hear his southern accent am i the only one that played that one 'yes ma'am' scene on repeat? Also him and Alice make my bisexual tingle)
I think the concept of canon, fanon and noncanon is very tricky, but i genuinely think Mike wheeler is gay.
I've never liked fanon versions of characters. I've always had a hard time being in fandoms bc of how mischaracterized so many characters are, and i really dislike headcanons that go against canon facts of the show, or when people erase certain facts or characteristics about a character or a story to get their way. With all that said, the duffers have created a gay character, whether they tried to or not.
The thing about fiction is that because it's not real, there are a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies that can happen and never be addressed or resolved. But It's not that i think there are too many plot holes for him to not be straight. It's that 1. I don't think the duffers understand their own characters anymore, nor what they're doing with them, and 2. Sometimes writers make choises they think fit the narrative without thinking if it fits the character, which is what i think happened with both Will and Mike, and simply how their story was handled, which was very out of character (or out of characters considering how ofter their character changes) for the both of them. Characters the duffers seem to take little interest in nowadays.
