Merlin Fanworks Fest!

Hello and welcome one and all to Merlin Fanworks Fest! A BBC Merlin Fandom event dedicated to creating community and fanworks of all types together! Now you might be wondering? What is this event even about and why does it exist when there's already tons of different Merlin events?

We (Twigs & Runa) love Merlin and the joy that this fandom has brought us, and so we wanted to create an event that was different to others and gave the space for all sorts of creatives to connect, create, and enjoy a space for fans!

We want to have an event where everyone has the oppertunity to create whatever your heart desires!

We also want to have a chance to focus on some characters and pairings non romantic/romantic/platonic/familial etc. that aren't usually seen in the fandom!

All in all we just want to have a wonderful event where we all can be happy and connected!

With that being said here is how this works!

Getting Started:

Biweekly so twiece a month on Wednesday there will be a theme dropped that you can create for, but you can create for any prompts posted at anytime, there's no time limit

When creating your fanwork please tag @MerlinFanworksfest, and it will be reblogged

Please note that this is an 18+ fandom space

The 3 levels to the theme/prompt.

What are the 3 levels and how does it work?

So the 3 levels are

Level 1 - A Prompt ex. Dragon, Healing, FriendshipLevel 2 - A Pairing or A Character ex. Merlin/Gwaine, Leon, Gwen & Merlin, Arthur, Morgana & Arthur & Leon, AithusaLevel 3 - A Tag ex. Merlin's magic revealed, Hurt/Comfort, Cold Iron, Good Morgana, Golden Age of Magic

You can create for any one of the 3 weekly levels or combine them into a fill! You can do Level 1: Dragon for a fill, or Level 1: Dragon + Level 3: Hurt/Comfort, or Level 1: Dragon + Level 2: Merlin/Gwaine + Hurt/Comfort etc. the sky is your limit! Go wild!

What is a fill?

A Fill is any fanwork from a microfic, to a multiple chapter works, to gif sets, web weave, moodboards, edits, art tradition or digital, a poem, animation anything goes! If you think it's a fanwork then you can use it as a fill! We want everyone to have a chance to create for this event!

 Important Rules

There shall be no AI allowed in any capcity fanworks should be create by humans for humans.

If you engage with the Harry Potter IP we will also have to ask you to leave as this is a Harry Potter Free Zone. Because that women is a genuine monster who has caused so much harm and I don't play about protecting my friends and myself from her bigotry.

Respect other people's creations even if you are not a fan.

Don't like it don't read it, Ship and let ship, and your kink is not my kink, but your kink is okay, are all rules you should abide to in regards to participating in Merlin Fanworks Fest.

FAQ

Is there a word limit? - Nope! Can be 50 words, can be 10,000, or more, it doesn't matter but if it is more then 600 words, just place a read more on your fic for readers, or connect it to ao3.

Can we post a multiple chapter fic based on mulitple prompts or based on one prompt ongoing? - Yes if you'd like to do that go for it!

Are AUs/crossovers/inspiration from other fandoms welcome? - Yes all of it yes! The rules in regards to the fills are fairly loose for a reason we want everyone to have a chance to create even if you have never done it before and are just getting into fandom there is a place for you here!

Is there a discord? Yes! It is the Kingdoms of Albion server it serves as a Merlin server for any fans and has a specific 'kingdom' set up for Merlin Fanworks Fest, as well as Poly Merlin Microfic! Here is the LINK

Can we cross-post with another event? - Yes! So long as it is allowed with their event it is allowed here!

Do you need mods/are open to mods joining? - Yes, this event is currently run by 2 people and we would love to have others join, if you want to send the account a DM.

okay, with the way ive planned it, we can get the whole thing done right before the start of @merthurweek2023 !!!

here’s the deal: one episode every five days, unless it’s a two parter, then it’s both episodes within those five days. under the cut is the schedule i made. you can save them if you want to♥️

you can watch with the schedule, you can join for a few random weeks, you can pick and choose which episodes you want to watch or make a creation for—all up to you!!

(you can join my discord server, too, if you want to watch when others do & we can talk about it)

a gifset an episode (what i am personally doing. it’s gonna be hard but ill try)

a gifset every few eps posted during our collective watch time

a gifset after we finish a season as an ode to what we watched

for writers,

a coda to the episode during it’s watch time

a divergence au that follows after the episode

a fix-it of what you wished happened during the episode

for watchers,

a post about your feelings/thoughts during the episode

possible meta about what something could’ve meant

a possible fic idea that you want to suggest to the world

for artists and video makers,

for the schedule below, i used color coding for each season! you could explore an idea you had during an episode with the color of the season

any relationship between characters that you wished you saw more of during an ep/season

anything you want to capture in your style from what we’ve watched

Merlin Fantasy AU Fest Interest Check!

Hello there Merlin fans! We’re interested in running a fest for the fandom specifically centered around Fantasy AUs. Merlin’s Spring Cleaning a Merlin bbc art project . finish your wips . coming april 2019

We all have them – WIPs we'll probably never finish. Either it’s art, edits, gifs or Podfics. Merlin’s spring cleaning is for all of these projects. Blow the dust off your WIPs and finish them with us in April 2019. The project runs the whole month, so you still have plenty of time to finish as much unfinished art as you like. Just don’t forget to tag your work with #merlinsspringcleaning.

Why should you participate? Because it’s a lot more motivating to finish your work for a reason and with other people together. Your reward is the satisfaction of finally finishing your work.
