Day 19 of this post. (Yes I know its from 2023, no I do not care)
AU: Superheroes
Sickie: Taehyung
Caretaker: Jimin
Author's Note: okay so background, Jimin is the villan and Taehyung is the hero. Taehyung has like "superman" type powers, strength, flight, basic stuff. Jimin has fire powers. Taehyung's powers make his sneezes 100x more powerful. I made Jimin sort of obsessed with the whole "comic book" interactions, like super flashy enterances from the villan. Okay yeah that should be all for this story.
Taehyung muffles a cough into his sleeve, dragging another person out from the burning building. It seems that even when he is trying to take a sick day, Jimin could still find it in his cold, dead heart to make him get up and save people.
Taehyung sat the unconscious person up against a bench, checking them over for injuries. When they seemed to be fine, he runs back inside. The smoke must have overwhelmed his sinuses, because he jerks back, nostrils flaring wide into the gray, hazy air. Through teary eyes, he can just barely make out a flame coming closer to him.
"Well, long time no-"
"hh'RESH'uuh!"
The smoke clears in an instant, the air and moisture from Taehyung's nose putting out the fire that Jimin has summoned for "dramatic effect."
"Ugh! You ruined my entrance!" Jimin scowls at Taehyung.
"Yeah, well you ruided my dice day of staying at hobe and goig through 100 boxes of tissues," Taehyung counters, scrubbing a finger underneath his nose.
Jimin visibly grimaces at the green mucus on Taehyung's finger. "Well, I wouldn't have done it if I knew you were sick."
"Oh, really? Thats so dice of y-
"Because I don't want any of your germs. I have stuff to do. I can't be sick," Jimin scoffs. "I don't actually care how you feel."
Taehyung rolls his eyes. "Wow. Thangks. You really know how to bake your bortal edeby feel special."
"Blow your nose! I cant understand you like this!" Jimin looks about 30 seconds away from having an aneurysm.
"I don't carry tissues," Taehyung says with a soupy sniffle and a little smirk.
Jimin groans, fishing a travel pack of tissues out of his pocket. "Just use these, okay?"
Taehyung eyes the tissues with an air of skepticism. "Are you sure these tissues ared't coated in poisod?"
"Yes, I'm sure because they're my tissues," Jimin says through gritted teeth.
"Well, you're not gonda wadt theb back after I'b done with theb," Taehyung chuckles.
"I wasn't... Just go home!" Jimin practically yells.
"Fide. The fire rescue is here adyway." Taehyung looks outside. "Thangks for the-"
Felix woke up freezing and pulled his blanket tighter around his chilled body. Something didn’t feel right but he couldn’t yet pinpoint what. As he grew more lucid, he picked up on the blaring of his alarm and dazedly shut it of. Realizing he’d have to get up, Felix sighed and flinched. The small sound had sent a sharp pain down his throat and he dropped his head back onto the pillow, defeated. He knew he had to get up but at the same time, he just couldn’t find the energy to. Goosebumps spread down his arms when he finally rolled out of bed, the movement throwing him off balance. Weird. Why did his head feel so light?
Dressing in baggy sweatpants and an oversized hoodie to help him warm up, Felix looped a scarf around his neck and left his room. Seungmin and Jeongin were already eating breakfast, while Minho had waited for him, worried the Aussie might oversleep. “Good morning”, the older smiled, “Wasn’t sure you’d get up. Come eat so we can get going.” – “I’m not hungry”, Felix forced out, his voice scratchy and weirdly high-pitched. Talking hurt more than he had expected, so instead of grabbing something to eat, he went to prepare himself a cup of tea. Minho was quick to take over and guided his dongsaeng to the dining table, instructing: “You gotta eat, Lixxie. We have a long day ahead of us, flower, so you will need all your energy.”
The petname made Felix feel weird and he muttered awkwardly: “I’m not little, hyung.” Three pairs of confused eyes scrutinized him. “It’s okay if you are”, Minho assured, figuring the other was denying it because of their work schedule. He had secretly been little at the company building a couple of times though, so he should be fine. Why wasn’t he honest with his caregivers then? Shaking his head, Felix wanted to argue but Seungmin hummed: “Why’s your voice so high then? You sound like you’re small, bubba.” – “Just a sore throat”, the Aussie denied, realizing he wasn’t up to an argument.
He didn’t feel like they believed him but gratefully accepted the cup of tea Minho brought him. The older had almost transferred the drink into his dongsaeng’s sippy cup, had Felix not shot him a very stern look. Since they were running a little late, the Aussie managed to get out of the dorm without being forced to eat breakfast, much to Minho’s dismay. His hyung was determined to keep a very close eye on him though.
Felix kept his eyes cast to the ground as he trudged along the rest of the members, shivering despite the number of layers he had put on. “Yeah, he refused to eat breakfast and I’m pretty sure, he’s little though he denies it”, he heard Minho tell Chan. Rolling his eyes, Felix piped in: “No, I’m not.” His voice was barely loud enough for Chan to catch it and the effort hadn’t really been worth the pain. Holding back tears at the pain in his throat, Felix ducked into his scarf and muffled a weak cough.
As soon as the members had arrived at the studio, Felix settled in next to Hyunjin, hoping his friend’s warmth would ease his chills. “You probably won’t be able to record today, right?”, Chan asked softly, “Minho told me about your sore throat.” – “Don’t think so, sorry”, the younger forced out. Assuring Felix that it was fine to postpone his recording session, Chan took his seat at the mixing desk and got to work. Hyunjin felt his fellow dancer shiver and whispered: “Are you could?” Giving a pathetic nod, Felix huddled tighter, relieved when the older draped his arm around his shoulders.
They were just taking a short break, when Changbin crouched in front of Felix and hummed: “Lix, we have a bunch of coloring books in the desk drawer if you want. I bet it’s stressful to pretend to be big and work like an adult when you’re little.” – “For fucks sake, why do y’all keep treating me as though I was little?!”, Felix whined hoarsely, “No, I’m not.” – “Well, your voice his high-pitched, you’re really cuddly and whining doesn’t necessarily support your case”, Jisung listed but grew soft when he noticed the tears in the other’s eyes. “My voice is high because my throat hurts like hell”, the dancer snapped, “I stay close to Hyunjin because he’s warm while I’m freaking cold and excuse my whining but it sucks when nobody believes you!”
Felix’ voice had started to crack more towards the end and he was full on sobbing now. Whether he was crying from the pain or the frustration, he didn’t know. Gently ruffling his hair, Hyunjin shushed: “It’s okay, I believe you.” The younger looked up at him with bloodshot eyes, hesitantly leaning into his touch. “You’re burning, Lix, so I’m not surprised you’re having chills”, Hyunjin informed quietly, “Already woke up with that fever, huh?”
While 3racha discussed how to proceed, Felix closed his eyes and relaxed into Hyunjin’s affection. “Lix?”, Chan hummed, catching his dongsaeng’s attention, “You won’t be recording today and the rest of our schedule consists of dance practice, which you also have no business attention with a fever, so there’s really only one question. Once I arrange your ride, where do you want to go? Back to your dorm to try and sleep it off or to a doctor to get your throat checked. I’d vote in favor of the latter because your voice really concerns me but ultimately, it’s up to you.” Pulling out his phone, Felix typed for a moment before showing Chan the screen. He’d see a doctor about his sore throat.
“Text us as soon as you get home, okay?”, Hyunjin instructed, brows furrowed with worry as he fixed the boy’s scarf, “And let us know if you need anything.” Felix nodded, wiping his eyes on his sleeve before being pulled into a tight hug. “I’m sorry, I didn’t believe you”, Minho whispered before releasing his dongsaeng from his embrace, “Try to sleep when you get home.” Stuffing a handful of cough drops into Felix’ pocket, Jisung gave him a crooked smile. He needed no words, the Aussie could see the apology in his eyes.
Felix had known that he had a long wait ahead of him but he couldn’t have predicted just how draining sitting in a waiting room could be. Now, he was finally on his way home though, texting their group chat to let them know that he had laryngitis and would be on vocal rest for the next couple of days to restore his voice. He had deliberately texted them before he got home because he could already feel his consciousness get foggy and doubted he’d be able to resist sleep long enough to text them once he arrived and sure enough, no sooner then he had crawled into bed did his eyes close.
Chan was growing worried when he hadn’t heard anything from Felix for the rest of the day after his initial text but it did make sense when they arrived at the boy’s dorm for dinner after finally completing their schedule. Since everyone was concerned for their friend, they didn’t head to their separate dorms but wanted to spend the evening together. When Chan went to check on Felix, the younger dazedly awoke from his afternoon nap, eyes shiny with fever. He was about to speak but the leader handed him his phone, reminding: “No talking for now. How’re you feeling?”
While Felix typed, Chan felt his forehead and realized that he was still hot to the touch. “Think you could handle some soup for dinner? I think you should take something for that fever but not on an empty stomach”, the leader mused. “Throat’s on fire, would love medicine for the pain and fever, the chills suck, not sure I can eat’, the screen showed when Felix handed the phone back to Chan. Nodding in acknowledgement, the oldest smiled: “Do you want to come to the living room? We can get you settled on the couch with a bunch of blankets. I know you don’t like being alone when you’re feeling poorly.” Felix nodded and allowed his hyung to remove his blanket but mouthed: “Dizzy.”
With Chan’s support, Felix slowly shuffled to the living room and weakly collapsed onto the couch, smiling when Jeongin came over to hug him. “Let me get you some soup”, Seungmin smiled, ruffling his friend’s already disheveled hair in passing. He joined Minho in the kitchen, the older preparing dinner for the rest of them. Glancing over at the vocalist, Minho hummed: “How is he?” – “Looks properly sick now but we didn’t talk, obviously”, Seungmin shrugged, filling a bowl with soup. He grabbed a spoon before making his way back to the living room. Felix sat on the couch, a fluffy blanket draped around his shoulders, with Hyunjin and Jisung sitting on either side of him. Despite the blanket and scarf he was wearing, the Aussie still shivered, so Seungmin handed the bowl to Hyunjin, afraid it’d get spilled.
Hyunjin held the bowl while Felix ate, not wanting any of them to get burned if the younger’s shaky grip slipped. It was a slow process though with Felix wincing after every bite as he fought back tears at the pain in his throat every time he swallowed. Jisung comfortingly rubbed the Aussie’s back through the blanket, heard aching at his twin’s struggle. Soon, Minho served the rest of the group their dinner, while Chan brought Felix’ medicine and a glass of water to rinse it down with. The younger only took a few tiny sips though, his throat too raw to put himself through the pain of drinking anymore.
When they were all done eating, Changbin and Jeongin cleaned up the dishes, while the other members retrieved more pillows and blankets to get ready for a movie. Since Felix had slept all afternoon, he doubted he’d be able to go to bed any time soon and would gladly take any distraction from the pain. He had curled up with his head on Hyunjin’s lap and Minho spread a second blanket over his shivering body to quell the chills, cooing at how small his dongsaeng looked curled up like that. Worried the boy would struggle to stay hydrated with such a painful sore throat, Chan made sure to supply his fellow Aussie with cups of tea and added generous amounts of honey to each of them to soothe the pain a little.
Seungmin dimmed the lights and waited for Felix to choose a movie. Hyunjin stroked Felix’ hair at a slow pace, knowing how much the boy depended on physical affection, especially when he wasn’t feeling well. Now, he looked comfy though. Amidst his group, Felix felt safe and no matter how much pain he might be in, he knew this too would pass and the members would all be there for him, making his struggle more bearable.

Summary: Runaan leaves a poison on the table as he goes to grab something before leaving not knowing anyone was home. Ethari comes out of his workshop and decides he wants a drink.
Assassins are careful. But sometimes being careful isn't enough. Sometimes you need to make sure your husband isn't home when you leave your poison next to his glass. The color of the liquids were that different.
Ethari walked out of his workshop to realize he had forgotten his drink on the table. Runaan had almost forgotten his small knife he kept on him just in case.
As he walked out to the dinning room where he had left his supplies, he paused for a moment. "I didn't know you were home."
"Oh, I was in my workshop. Are you about to head out love?" Ethari asked as he set down his glass.
Runaan looked at the glass. He looked at the one next to it and froze. His eyes locked on the two glasses as he realized that his husband had grabbed the wrong glass.
"Ethari, sit down." He pulled out a chair at the table and pushed him into it.
"Is everything okay?" the man asked.
"No. You grabbed the wrong glass."
Runaan's heart sank as he watched Ethari realize what had happened.
"It's okay. Go get the antidote. I'll be fine here."
The elf ran back to his closet. He had moved everything there when Rayla moved in. He tore it apart trying to find it.
In the other room, Ethari started to feel the effects of the poison. He tried to stand to go help Runaan and to maybe help him calm down. He got a few feet before he collapsed. His breathing speed slightly as he sat against the table.
A crash came from their room. Runaan pulled away from the object that fell. He looked at his shaking hand to see blood coming out of a large cut. He shook it off and looked back to the closet.
Rayla hadn't moved in all that long ago and he hadn't had a chance to really organize everything yet. She took up a lot more time then Runaan had realized she would. He didn't mind most of the time but right now he almost resented taking her in.
But even then he knew it wasn't her fault. As he grabbed for a vile at the top of the shelf, he thought about how he knew better then to leave something as deadly as poison on the table. He knew better then to assume it would be okay.
The vile came into his grasp and he looked at the label on the bottom. He had found what he needed.
Ethari couldn't see straight. He had a terrible headache and everything felt off center. Even though he knew he was staying still, everything felt like it was moving. The worst part was feeling tired. He felt so tired.
When Runaan came into the room, Ethari hadn't noticed at first. He only saw him when he was a few feet in front of him.
"Love?" He asked.
"Drink this." Runaan put the small vile against Ethari's lips and tipped it some. The elf tried to take the glass but Runaan didn't let him.
Slowly he started to recover. While he still couldn't see straight or think very well, Ethari took his husband's injured hand into his own. He looked at his, swaying and tried to get him to take care of it.
At first Runaan didn't understand but slowly he got the point and grabbed a nearby towel and pressed it against his hand. "Is that better?"
Ethari smiled. Runaan grabbed him and laid him down on the couch. He grabbed the trash can and put it next to them and held Ethari's hair when he threw up. He pulled the other back into the couch when he almost fell off.
Another assassin walked into their home. He didn't even knock. He looked at Runaan confused. "Everything okay? You were supposed to meet up like thirty minutes ago."
"I'm going to be late. If the time comes and you must leave, I will catch up."
"Okay?" The elf sounded skeptical as he started to walk away.
"Can you, find Rayla for me? Take her the coins on the counter and tell her to grab some bread from the market."
"Don't want her home yet?" He asked.
"Not yet."
The assassin grabbed the coins and headed for the door. "I'll keep her distracted."
"Thank you." Runaan looked back at the man in front of him. He sighed. This had never happened before. Normally he was more careful than that. He never should have left such a strong poison on the table.
It was yours before Ethari came close to recovering. The assassin had done as he said he and had kept Rayla away from the home.
"I'm so sorry" Runaan began. "I never should have left poison on the table. I was just going to grab something."
"It's okay." Ethari spoke slowly and softly. "I probably should have looked."
"No this is my fault. How are you feeling?"
"Better then before."
"Good."
"You need to go right?"
"I can stay."
"No, you go ahead. I'll be okay."
It took awhile before Runaan finally agreed to leave. He left the trash can by his side and bright Ethari a glass of water.
"I'll be home soon. I love you." He kissed Ethari's forehead and made his way to the door.
"I love you too dear." Ethari laid back down on the couch. He grabbed the glass of water and took a sip of it. Then he set it back on the table and grabbed the book that was there. Taking the blanket into his hands, he pulled it over him and opened the book. At least he had a reason to read now.
It was hard to keep each other warm, when one of you was the embodiment of winter. Caretaker mused that perhaps, cuddling up to Whumpee was just going to make the situation worse.
But Whumpee was so drained, even he couldn't resist Winters cruel chill.... so Caretaker continued to hold onto them, even as the cold took him too.

This was going to be cute, like, snuggling by the fireplace cute! But it sorta just... derailed.
Whoops.
It was also meant to be a gift for my good friend, @lindzem but it came out just super angsty, sorry x-x

Summary:
It is freezing cold and they should have stayed in Kaer Morhen, but the drowner problem in the little town at the foot of the Blue Mountains had to be taken care of before more children disappear under the icy surface of the pond in the forest. Only now, Coën is suffering from hypothermia and Cahir is not that much better off.
It had been a while since Ezren or Callum had gotten sick. That was good. The Opeli came to talk to Callum. Ezren may be the king but he is still a child. Children are fragile.
"High mage, your brother has fallen ill. He is in his room." Opeli informed him. Callum closed his book and walked to Ezren's room. He knew he would really only be able to keep him company.
As he opened the door Bait greeted him. He walked over to Ezren's bed and sat down. The boy shifted from his place and leaned against Callum.
Ezren was so warm. His skin felt like it was burning. "hey Ez, how are you doing?"
"I don't feel well." Ezren muttered.
"You'll be okay Ez. Get some rest."
Soon Ezren had fallen asleep. Callum leaned against his head broad and sighed. He pulled out a book and started to read it.
Opeli quietly came into the room with a glass of water and a small bucket of water that had a rag on the side of it. She placed them beside the bed and nodded to Callum. He smiled softly as she left the room, closing the door almost silently.
Almost an hour later Ezren started to stir. He muttered about something before waking up slightly. "Callum, can you get Dad?" He asked innocently.
Callum tried to figure out what to say. He was delirious. The fever had started to cause painful dreams. "He's busy but I'm here. Try to go back to sleep okay?"
Tears welled in the older brother's eyes as he reached for the rag and rang it out. He pressed the cloth gently against Ezren's head and shortly the boy was back asleep. Callum put the rage back in the bucket and leaned back against the headboard.
Tears fell softly from his eyes as he wondered about what would be different about their lives if Harrow had survived. Maybe Ezren's only family wouldn't be a mage and a general who is hours away. Maybe he wouldn't be the one who has to take care of Ezren.
It wasn't that Callum minded. He would do anything for him. But a father seemed better than a brother. They weren't very old and were already alone.
Of course there were doctors that could take care of Ezren. He was the king of Katolis after all. But for now all they could do is keep him comfortable. It was just a virus that would go away soon enough.
Still Callum worried. He did a lot of that as of lately. He worried about the people he was around. He couldn't help it.
Again Ezren stirred. Before he could wake up, Callum placed the damp rag on his head and started to whisper softly. He whispered words of comfort to him and soon the boy had settled again.
The rag hit the water as Callum closed his eyes. Hopefully Ezren would feel better soon.
(Somethow this went to drafts rather than queue, I legitimately thought I posted it months ago!)
Caretaker hated seeing Whumpee like this. Twisting and turning in his sleep, whimpering and begging with his fractured voice. Whole body coated in sweat as he trembled on Caretakers lap.
It was almost to be expected. After all, Whumpee's brother; Whumper, went above and beyond to make his life a living hell. Yet despite all the damage Whumper did, Whumpee still kept running back.
Caretaker didn't quite understand where he got his commitment from. The love of a brother, he supposed. Whumpee was certain that if he could just get Whumper to listen, to break through with his fruitless begging... he'd eventually get his brother back.
Unfortunately, it wasn't that easy. But Caretaker would always be there to pick up the pieces.

Felt nice having most of Christmas off, but I really should've been drawing because I'm REALLY far behind now. Whoopsie. Just means I need to work harder.
Looking forward to January at least, I have some fun projects in mind!
