How to play Wanda Maximoff in D&D 5e
So, I’m insanely obsessed with Wandavision, as are most people I see online, and a huge part of that is to do with Wanda. Her powers, her strength, her love for her family that ingratiate her to audiences. So the question is, how would you play a character so powerful in the MCU? Here are couple of builds I’ve seen that would play as a psychic reality warper with just a bit of a god-complex:
Firstly, Wanda is almost always a Mutant, or a variation on Human, so most likely she would be Human Variant, Shifter, or one of the newer UA races.
If you do go with Human Variant, feats like Telekenetic, Metamagic Adept, War Caster or even Resiliant could promote whichever aspects of Wanda’s character you want to enhance (Her powers, personality, or experiences)
Class wise, Wanda is built almost exactly like a sorcerer, but there are a few other options that could work
If you do want to go the sorcerer route, Abberant Sorcerer is the closest match to her skill set, especially in the MCU. Touch worlds beyond your own, communicate with allies across distances, and cast magics of insane power.
If you want to go with something more chaotic, Wild Magic Sorcerer is the class with the biggest chances for consequences and rewards, paid out in equal measure.
Outside of sorcerer, Wanda’s relationship with several different powerful magic users could make her a warlock, with her powers befiting the Fiend for their offensive capabilities, or the Great Old one to enhance the psionic options.
Lastly, for background Wanda and her brother would most likely be Urchins, Hermits, Folk Heroes, or even Nobles, depending on what continuity you’re in.
