It’s finally finished and washed! Metroid Fusion was my first Metroid game and the Dachora and Etecoons are my favourite little guys from that game. I don’t generally enjoy horror, so young me really appreciated the cute, cuddly, friendly creatures breaking up the almost nonstop fear that game evokes. So what better way to commemorate these special friends than to make a lil 5 cm patch on my favourite shorts and embroider them onto it? If I was doing it all over again, I’d probably make the background more grey and less green so the Dachora would pop out more. The text above the patch is the name of the piece, “Save the Animals.” This is of course a reference to the speed running community’s famous phrase referring to the rescue of these same creatures at the end of the previous game, Super Metroid, which I haven’t yet had a chance to really play (I will very soon though).

I went back to replay and complete Fusion earlier this year which is what inspired me to make this in the first place. Since then, I’ve also played & finished (not completed) Metroid: Zero Mission thanks to Nintendo Switch Online. Additionally, I have obtained and begun Samus Returns, the Metroid II remake. Now that this is finished, I’ll be playing Samus Returns a lot more so that I can move on to Super Metroid someday.

Metroid Fusion review

"This is another Nintendo fan here! You can tell i love Nintendo by my ability to [emulate games]! I've never played Metroid."

What better way to introduce myself to the franchise than with the 4th entry of the mainline series, considered the most lineal and least representative of what a metroid game usually looks like?

idk why did I felt like playing this one first, but it was really good. It's true that is pretty linear, and occasionally got a bit annoying with how much you go from A to B then C then back to A then C again then B one last time except not really just once more. But despite that it was quite enjoyable; the puzzles, combat and exploration along with the story left me wanting to see more of this franchise. The pixelart is also nice to look at, I appreciate the gba and other handhelds for giving game devs some more years to release 2D games instead of having to follow the 3D trend. There was the ocassional "hey thats bullshit" moment but i guess it's a requirement to add some of those in these kind of games. Fusion is also shorter than I expected but that's more of a me problem cuz I asumed this handheld game should be as long as a full home console one.

Is this not supposed to happen or the level designers just did not give a fuck at this point

The SA-X Catalogue

Unrelated, but another gripe I've had with the series for a while is that they keep changing Samus' power suit model to be curvier in every new game.

Fedorasaurus Plays: Metroid Fusion!

I recently finished my first full replay of the game since I was a kid, so I can confidently say I'm ready for Metroid Dread when it comes out in less than a month! Will I be just as, if not more, spooked by the new game? Likely!
