idk man sometimes i like it when video game writers are allowed to plan a series of events that happen in a specific order and affect each other in turn to become an overarching narrative, and i don’t mind trusting those writers to take me through those events in the order that is emotionally effective. i don’t really care if a game forces me to go through the forest area first before i can attempt the icy area because maybe there’s things that happen in the forest area that inform later scenes in the icy area. maybe we don't need more superficial player choice open world concepts if it comes at the cost of the ability to write a story with actual significant plot events and character development in each section
Every time I see that last pic, I have to note that the funniest line is the one immediately after the highlight
rip to the guy who posted his very expensive yixing teapot to r/tea, only for the comments to be not compliments on his taste as he expected, but instead GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY and I SHOULD CALL HER. he then crossposted it to r/gongfutea, which is ordinarily more dignified and self-serious, but was it? was it?? of course not, because this is reddit, and this was the teapot
this is going somewhat viral on twitter so i’m posting it here too
one of my friends in a discord server was talking about how they were nervous about their first scheduled acupuncture appointment. another friend offered to do a tarot reading for them. sent this picture.
"Peggle make phone calls" has become shorthand for "fuck it, whatever" for me but no one ever knows what im talkingabout and it's also longer (longhand?)

I do not eat meat. The thing is that I really think it does not matter if it is "always" or "necessarily" wrong to eat meat. Those questions are just not interesting or relevant to how people in rich, industrialized countries live their lives. The fact is that if you eat meat in such a society, there is an extremely high chance that you are eating more than you need to and that the animals you are eating were slaughtered in factory farms with unthinkably horrible conditions. When some someone makes a generic generalization "eating meat is wrong" you should not understand it to mean a universal claim or a necessity claim. Instead, you should operationalize it to the shared conversational context and not try to defend yourself with absurd hypotheticals and suggestions that maybe, sometimes people with extremely rare conditions should eat meat. Sure. Okay. If that's you then go for it. But that isn't what we're fucking talking about. We're doing something really, really horrible to billions of animals here and there is a degree to which pedantic "what if I am on a desert island and there are only succulent wild boars who actually want to be killed" scenarios are jaw-dropping as a response!
It's so annoying, like "what about this group of Inuit people who rely on whale meat because they can't grow plants?" Fuck, I don't know. Are you an Inuit? Didn't think so.

imagine oil industry people were on tumblr making fun of environmental activists every time they say anything perceived to be slightly askew from the minutia of how like pumpjacks or pipelines work or whatever. and like half the time the activists are actually right and the oil people were just trying to gish gallop around the point on terminology, occasionally they manage to cherry pick something thats actually incorrect but it basically never challenges the actual point of why the oil industry is bad. and they all use this to say actually climate change is not a problem and we should have forever gas subsidies and build pipelines everywhere. and tumblr users cheer them on for letting them feel smug. this is how this website treats animal agriculture
veganism is expensive if you want to replace all the animal products and animal-based dishes you currently eat with 1:1 pre-made veganised alternatives. veganism is extremely cheap if you think of vegan food as its own form of cuisine, and do a bunch of bullshit with beans and tofu.
[surrounded exclusively by the highly cultivated circle of people I don't find it difficult to be around] it's crazy how every media property I dislike is widely panned yet still succeeds
remember when websites were written on purpose, and not generated by autocomplete in the instant you run the web search? anyway, unrelated, this webpage purporting to relay expert knowledge on which plants are safe for my snake's tank just told me I would know if he was biting them and getting irritated because he would start pawing at his mouth.
i mean, that sure would be a sign something was wrong

Referring to someone as your “partner” sounds as if you are deliberately obscuring their gender and may subtly out you. “My ex”, however, is entirely unobtrusively gender-neutral. #breakupallrelationships
