Adolfo Mariño Ruiz, who had already shown his ability to draw "suggestive dolls" in series like "El Charro Negro", uses the adventures of an "innocent girl" as a pretext to enjoy himself in the detailed illustration of all kinds of beatings and torments, in which Yolanda plays the role of victim as well as executioner.
This series is a pioneer of the cartoon that we could classify as soft porn, which in the last years of the 20th century and the first years of the 21st, will become the quintessential genre of popular Mexican comics in series such as the "sensational" (Sensational de Chambeadoras , Sensational Markets, etc.). "Yolanda" did not last long in the market because it was the object of a moralizing campaign headed by civil organizations linked to the Catholic Church, which culminated in the burning of comics in the Zócalo of Mexico City and the closure of the magazine published by the Mariño Ruiz himself, who was even arrested by the police accused of being a pornographer.
