Join us to celebrate the musical aspects of The Magicians (Lev Grossman, SyFy) from Mar. 23-29, 2026!
Don’t Make Me Sing (Every Single One of Us Has to Sing) is a fanworks event centered around music. We do love musicals, music sung or performed within the story, and songfic (and, of course, all the musical moments and episodes of The Magicians). However, your entry can be anything related to music at all, provided it takes place in the world of The Magicians (Lev Grossman, SyFy).
For instance, there are musical instruments visible in the background in a lot of episodes. Quentin loves Taylor Swift. Penny hates earworms. Kady talks about her mom performing to music. Alice and Eliot refer to songs and bands they loved or hated. The show also has a lot of songs playing in the background; these could become part of the story. The Beast whistles. You might even interpret the honking of geese as a type of natural music! As usual, the interpretation of the musical theme is up to you!
All forms of fan content are welcome (art, collage, comic, cosplay, edit, fic, filk, gif, pinboard, playlist, podfic, vid, etc.). It can be a new work or a continuation of an existing WIP. There are no limits or requirements for amount or size, etc.
As usual for our events, new additions to existing WIPs are welcome. Likewise, entries can be the start of a new WIP. As many or as few pieces as you wish to enter are fine. If you're making multiple chapters or pieces for the same work, feel free to submit them as separate entries!

Summary:
While everyone else went to class, Eliot worked on a song he was writing about Quentin, thinking he was alone in the Cottage except for Margo.
Quentin heard Eliot's beautiful voice and snuck over to see what it was all about.
Of course, once he realized Eliot was singing a song about his feelings for Quentin, Q was delighted--and began to form plans of his own.
This entire artwork and fic are inspired by Not Gonna Say by Lauren Fairweather. Such an amazing song! Captures Eliot's heart so well, sharing his feelings for Q during so many great Queliot moments in the first few episodes!

In 2026, we have four events planned welcoming The Magicians fanworks. For all of them, we welcome all types of fanworks; additions to existing WIPs are welcome, provided they fit the theme for the event; you may create as many things as you want for each event; no sign-ups needed!
