"Bless the man, if he hasn't taken my gown instead of his own! Oh, well, it doesn't matter. We're much of a height and mine's pretty wide on the shoulders, so it's exactly the same thing."
And then it struck her as strange that it should be the same thing.

Honestly the most Telling line from Lucifer isn’t the whole “I’ll never lie to you” or “I won’t ever hurt you. Not really”(because Lucifer is delusional) it’s “MFEO. Made For Each Other.”
Season 5 is basically every angel and demon in existence is telling Sam he was created to be Lucifer’s vessel. He was made for Lucifer to possess him. But Lucifer says they were made for EACH OTHER.
He sees them as equals.
Sam very clearly does not share the sentiment. Lucifer is an Archangel and like 100x more powerful than him but ig the millions of years of isolation made Lucifer a hopeless romantic and delusional about his connection to Sam.
This is why he switches up after Sam throws them in the Cage. I’ve seen people say the torture from Lucifer doesn’t follow from his behavior in S5 but it really does. This is how he acts after someone betrays him.
(Note here that Sam does not betray Lucifer. Lucifer just thinks he does. They both knew the plan, Lucifer just wasn’t expecting it to work)
Lucifer has the biggest victim complex in the universe, but a part of that is because he saw Sam as an equal despite the insane power imbalance between them. He beats him down, yeah, but in the same way in a war you’d beat down the opposing leader.
Lucifer thinks that he owes Sam just as much as Sam owes him. Lucifer clearly cares for Sam in Swan Song, letting him kill those demons, but from Lucifer’s perspective Sam doesn’t hold up his end by throwing them in the Cage.
It’s just interesting idk
My Lord, please send off this family letter for me.
Telling him that he is her family.
