I know that wasn't the intended course of events but I really enjoy the interpretation that Alex didn't kill Amy (which was what I initially thought anyway while watching the show). Amy escaped through the window, right? What if she tripped and fell and crashed down on the concrete. And when Alex looked out, there wasn't a body. The Operator took her. So when he lies to Jessica about Amy being fine, it's because he doesn't want her involved, to minimise the spread of the sickness, and when he asks Jay to help him find Amy, he actually kind of means that. Because the Operator took her, but people can come back from that, maybe she's somewhere and he just needs to find her. (And maybe make sure that she's dead, who knows!)

I'm just. I don't know what Jay and Alex were doing for like 2 months in the woods. All they do is hike around all day? I feel like if Alex didn't at least feel like there was some kind of use to doing that, (as much as I like to think about how much Alex didn't want to kill Jay and kept coming close to doing it) he would be doing something more productive with his time. But even when he was alone he kept coming back. Why? Trying to lure the Operator? Trying to find her? He didn't see straight and thought if he went to the source he could... do something?

And anyway Jay would've been the perfect choice of provisional ally in this case since he was already involved, and he's obsessed, so he's not gonna leave it alone anyway. But Alex decided to use him in a very stupid way by keeping him completely in the dark and mistreating him. (Almost like... he wanted to drive Jay away. He told him to stay away. He didn't want to kill him at that time, he just knew that he would)

It's cute that Drac and Clawd are implied to get together again in G3 but I'm also kinda disappointed too. Since the showrunners, Mattel, and even fans have made it clear G3 is a different universe I was kind of hoping Draculaura could explore a relationship with someone else this time around.

I personally see Clawdeen in G1 as a queer coded woman in denial about her more than platonic feelings for Draculaura and I think that's made obvious by how jealous and angry she got when Clawd started dating her and how every male love interest Clawdeen has had in the show is always a Vampire 🤔 Aside from that I always felt like Draculaura and Clawdeen's friendship was full of romantic tension even if it was sort of one sided.

They're not as close in G3 in my eyes but I would have still liked to maybe see them explore Draculaura having feelings for Clawdeen this time around instead of Clawd 😔 but I think atleast in G3 we may have Clawdeen be openly interested in girls because I feel chemistry between her and Toralei since the Earworm episode.

Idk maybe it's just my Dracudeen/queer heart talking but I think it would be interesting if Draculaura thinks she likes Clawd but is going through comp het and is unconsciously trying to substitute Clawdeen with Clawd but in the end realizes and admits to herself she has feelings for Clawdeen ♡. A ghoul can dream anyway 🤷‍♀️

you’re so right abt ableism surroundings how the fandom treats tim and it’s made even worse by the fact that mh, especially by the standards of early 2010s youtube which is when it was made obviously, is actually pretty respectful and sympathetic towards tim and the portrayal of his mental illness. the whole point is that jay and the audience are wrong about their initial perception of tim as scary and violent. mh literally sets him up as suspicious in the first season using horror movie tropes and then in season 3 pulls the rug from under the audience by going “no actually he’s a deeply compassionate dude just trying to survive and do his best. he is not inherently more cruel than everyone else and in fact is the one that makes it out BECAUSE he has learned to cope with these things” . tim not being a bad person is the whole POINT. so it’s even weirder when ppl do this stuff cause it directly goes against canon

this is soooo well said!!! exactly all of this! it's extra frustrating when you have a media that portrays mentally ill characters, Esp one w sm stigmatized disorders with respect and compassion. like come on guys, go back to the media and Think about what it's showing and telling you.

I know to the people who here me talk about this I'm beating a dead Kirin but

I know why people usually like MH rise more then world, it's a faster paced game with more fleshed out and snappy as hell combat. The wire bug gave unprecedented movement control in a series where movement has been a fundamental ability. (I still think in at least pre sunbreak, it takes something away to have that much freedom of movmenet, but thats another topic) The new skills and reworks of some of the weapons really do make rise special. And if monster hunter was just about combat, then yea, I might agree, rise is a superior game.

HOWEVER monster hunter is not just a fight with a big creature. It's about the environments, the setting. You are a hunter as part of a community that needs to hunt these large wild beasts. And as a whole, I feel world does so much more to put you in that role, and make you feel as part of the world you inhabit then rise does.

To me rise feels like an arcade game with an elaborate upgrade system. I do a hunt, and I upgrade my gear. Kamura village and the u,h castle town I can't even remember the name of were pretty and nice, but I never felt like a home the way Astera and Seliana do. I deleight in every part on Worlds gameplay loop, and adore every little touch that makes me feel like this is a real environment that I exist in, and can act upon it.

I never got that feeling with rise. World is just fundamentally more interesting to me as a piece of art then rise is.

i wanted to briefly post something that's been on my mind for a bit, in regards to a way people in the Marble Hornets fandom will attempt to "defend" Alex or other characters bad actions.

when people say something along the lines of "if you experienced these symptoms [common mental n chronic illness symptoms] you wouldn't do any better!" i think this is a sort of backhanded unintentional ableism.

because indirectly, what you're saying is "of course these symptoms would make someone violent/a murderer/a stalker/ etc". like "oh yeah experiencing paranoia, hallucinations, chronic headaches, chronic cough, memory loss, etc would make someone kill people btw". it's like, really gross even though it was good intentioned?

we're not supposed to excuse the bad things different characters did. none of what they experienced was an excuse for it, or made it okay. knowing what they went through can help us Understand, it can help us choose to be compassionate or sympathetic towards them. but it can't excuse their actions, and it's not supposed to.

and i think. this is important because inadvertently you are conflating common stigmatized symptoms and disorders with being a murderer or whatever. which is already how most media portrays people with these symptoms.

u ever think about how Alex must’ve felt seeing Brian after he escapes the Ark the first time? like he probably thought he succeeded in killing him once the operator made him vanish.

but then the friend he killed is there in front of him Again, alive and even sicker than before. instead of ending his suffering he made it Worse.

i think he would’ve felt sick to his stomach. his “mercy killing” failed and now Brian is running around in the woods, brain scrambled with codes and out to kill him. the guy who was kind and goofy n bright is now broken n angry n paranoid and Alex did that to him. made him that way.

he’s come back Different and Worse and way sicker than before and all Alex had done was make everything worse. in the end there was no mercy or good in what he did to Brian and i think part of Alex had to be aware of that. n it probably ate at him

directly parallels Jay losing trust in Tim over the Jessica-Masky tape and calling him a liar once again for something he had no control over and in both cases very little to no memory of
