1000 Coincidences
At a certain point, “coincidence” stops being a defense and starts sounding like denial.
Every time people point out similarities between Illit and NewJeans, or between Belift’s creative direction and ideas strongly associated with Min Hee-jin, gllits rush in with the same script: “it’s just a trend,” “they’re just inspired,” “you don’t own concepts,” “it’s all coincidence.”
One coincidence? Fine. Two? Maybe. But when the styling, branding language, visual framing, editing style, concept rollout, choreography presentation, marketing tone and even specific aesthetic choices keep overlapping over and over again, people are naturally going to notice a pattern.
And that’s the key word here: pattern.
Nobody is saying NewJeans invented teenage fashion, natural makeup or y2k nostalgia. The issue is that people are noticing a repeated replication of a very specific identity package that was carefully built and publicly associated with both NewJeans and MHJ’s creative direction. There’s a difference between following trends and mirroring a recognizable formula so closely that audiences instantly make the connection without being prompted.
What makes the defense even weaker is how selective it is. K-pop fans are usually the first people to detect “copying” over the smallest details. Suddenly, when it involves Illit and Belift, everyone is expected to become aggressively obtuse and pretend that repeated similarities appearing across multiple areas are random accidents.
At some point, “you’re reaching” becomes less convincing than the evidence piling up in front of people.
And honestly, if there was truly nothing there, the conversation would have died naturally months ago. The reason it keeps resurfacing is because new parallels keep appearing. That’s why people are still talking about it.
Fans also need to stop acting like acknowledging obvious inspiration or imitation is a personal attack on the members. Criticizing a company’s creative decisions is not the same thing as hating idols. Most people blaming Belift are specifically talking about management, branding and direction, not saying the girls themselves are evil masterminds.
The irony is that gllits constantly insisting that every single similarity is “just coincidence” only makes the situation look more suspicious. Because statistically, how many coincidences are people supposed to ignore before they’re allowed to admit there might actually be intentional borrowing involved?
You cannot spend months dismissing dozens of parallels as isolated incidents when the similarities themselves are what create the larger picture.
We can tell themselves on how much they don't see their artist as human before the fans and fandoms genuinely start just like boycotting these bitches it's not going to hurt your faves Trust me.
I kind of understand why people think boycotting would hurt the artist but it really wouldn't it would just send a message to the companies. Because they're just using them to make money. BeLift/HYBE doubling down on him having to leave the group to pursue a solo career while telling three things on themselves.
1, the group has a more gruesome schedule than most K-pop groups have. Which we kind of ready new dealing that they had been on tour since their debut they have not gone one year when they have not done a tour which is ridiculous. Even juggernauts like BTS black pink or ones that are as big but are still pretty big in the K-pop hemisphere like twice or stray kids or even SVT have never sat there and had to do a tour every fucking year they've actually gone without doing a tour some years they were out here doing world tours back to back while also coming out with albums and not having proper breaks.
2. They were the ones who decided this. Their wording here also basically proves what fans were saying which is he didn't decide he wanted to leave to pursue a solo career the company basically told him we're going to kick you out so you could pursue a solo career because we can't allow you to do that while being in the group. It's also really odd that they point out that yeah other companies and other groups are allowed to do group work and solo work but there's can't because again they purposely overwork them like they're fucking products and not human that's wild to tell on yourself like that.
3. They think the fans are stupid. Point blank blank I don't understand how people aren't picking up on that undertone. They think that them saying this and admitting to how shittily they treat their artists is what's going to get fans to stop protesting or thinking about boycotting. They think doubling down like this is what's going to make people agree with them. They are assuming that the fans also see the members as products and not human that is very very fucking scary.
The sad thing is they've been proven or at least partially that this is true. This is why I personally was telling people if you don't like new jeans or don't understand their situation that's okay don't talk about it. When people were out here showing hate towards them and basically saying very vile things and being the absolute worst it was showing that company as a whole that they could sit there and treat artists like objects or products and the fans would be okay with it. Having so many fandoms defending the company even when they were losing all of these lawsuits which were proving that everything they were saying was false. Made the company believe that that's how all of the fandoms in the corporation felt that they could basically sit here and use these artists as if they were personal Little Sim characters or dolls or avatars and the fans would be perfectly okay with it. They wouldn't fight the company about it they would be out here giving the company more money and praising them. That's what leads them to make stupid decisions like this and thinking they could get away with it and now has been pushed comes to shove.
If SM Entertainment can sit there and have a new boy group debut kick out a member and then proceed to have that fandom a majority of that fandom become so big and so loud that they basically boycott them and the company as a whole for an entire year a whole 365 days. There is no reason why a 6-year-old boy group with a huge fandom along with all the other fandoms under this company that has proven time and time again that they don't give a damn about the artist can't get together and boycott for 365 days.
And I get it I understand that a lot of fans nowadays they didn't grow up with family members who were teenagers or young adults in the early 2000s they don't remember what it was like before the internet was like a fully functioning thing. And how fans kept fandoms alive or kept groups going without monetary gain. Like you do not have to sit there and stream their songs or watch their music videos on official accounts etc pirating is a thing it's always been a thing I don't know why people assume that that's a bad thing it's not consumerism is a bad thing sitting there and getting shit for free is not. Like download all of their music videos now. Save them onto your Google drive your cloud account whatever the fuck it is that you use. You want to go back and watch those music videos watch them on your own device. Download all of their songs you not owning their songs digitally is wild but also y'all do understand the company can just decide to wipe all of their songs off of Internet one day right? It's happened multiple times to Chinese and Japanese artists when they decided to leave their company and their company decided oh well fuck you and got rid of all their music online so it's like lost media you can't find the shit if you didn't own an album which most people outside of Japan didn't which is why you need to sit there and download music there are so many YouTube to MP3 sites that exist start using them.
We already have sites like Tumblr and Pinterest and places like that where you can create and share edits photos you can download all that other good shit. Start doing that if you really want to. Start creating cute edits start making like screensavers and wallpapers that you could share with the fans. Create challenges.
You can sit there and create something that's a fun cool challenge that lasts for a month or they could do for an entire year. Where it's like everyday or once a week post something up like X Y and Z about the group share a gif unedit a photo that you like. Talk about one of your favorite moments of the group what made you a fan of the group just don't stop talking about them. They're going to go on the internet and they'll see how much the fans care and love and adore them without having to give the company money.
People who think if you do this the company would treat them worse. Baby they're going to do that regardless. How people don't think that the company isn't already out here treating certain groups like shit again this company was literally selling lies back and forth between their boy group and girl group making them think that they didn't like each other and it wasn't until they were on a YouTube channel where I don't think the company could have really done anything to stop them that they basically hashed it out in front of their fandoms by letting them know we never said that we wouldn't have felt that way we had no clue that even happened. If they're willing to do that behind closed doors can you imagine how ouster mismanaging and mistreating the members? Were you around when the 50/50 situation happened do you remember how the girls talked about the two companies basically telling them lies about each other how one company was the one in charge of their health but then lying and saying it was the other company how one company was telling them you can't have a break because they said there's no time for that after being like really sick or having a medical emergency but that wasn't the truth they were just saying that because they wanted to overwork the girls and to get them to sign with them when the contract was over. Like they were out here basically high school mean girl in this shit and using these young women as their toy to toy with one another even though they were human and they just wanted to sit there and create music and be K-pop idols. So why would you think that any of the big companies aren't capable of doing the exact same shit they're contracts and ndas are even more tight lip locked down then smaller companies so if a small company could be that vile the bigger companies are 100 times worse.
Like I stopped really interacting with fandoms or getting into groups after third gen for two reasons one I was entering college I didn't have time for that personally. Especially with the degrees that I was getting And the fact I was doing pre law too so like I really did not have time for too many hobbies.
But the second and the biggest reason was even back then when I was only like 18 19 years old I was so sick and tired of K-pop fans fighting each other and not realizing that the company's are the enemy. That your fave you shouldn't be arguing about whose group is the most underrated or mismanaged or treated you should be out here fighting with the fucking companies so that there doesn't have to be mistreated or mismanaged groups in the first place. So that these groups are well taken care of and everyone is on a fairly even ish playing field in terms of how they're treated when they enter the K-pop industry.
Like why are you out here arguing about your face having to live in a one-room rooftop apartment with mold and leaky roof instead of being upset that your company thought it was perfectly fine to put a group of like seven or five in a moldy leaky apartment that they could have paid to put them in a better one. Why are you so up in arms about the idea that your group isn't getting special treatment they're living in a decent enough dorm but it's not big enough for all the members and their water boiler system doesn't work so they're out here taking cold showers. Last time I checked their company had money and their CEO was fucking Rich they can give them a better decent ass apartment. That is not a good thing like I hate that because it makes it seem like in order for you to be an underdog you have to basically come off as like being dirt poor or having like it's like poverty porn for k-pop. How disgusting can they start off as with having nothing before they make it to the top or become bigger and then you can brag about it and it's like they shouldn't have to do that the first place.
My grandmother on my mom's side of the family was basically dirt poor when she immigrated to America from Columbia at that time. Her and her husband had moved and lived in Columbia with his family for the past like 3 or 4 years after they had gotten married they had first lived in Barbados which is where he was from. And then decided that they wanted to move to America when they found out that they were having their first child. This was back in like the '70s. So you had these two immigrants who technically spoke English but they weren't the best at English they both fall under the black category as far as Americans were concerned. And they didn't have a lot of money even then they never lived in like the shittiest of shittiest apartments they worked hard and hustle so that they could have a decent ass apartment.
By the time their last two kids came along they found what would eventually be there forever apartment until they passed away mind you this is the exact same apartment that I currently turning 29 this year and living in. I have basically lived in this apartment and visited my entire life they were living in here before I was even born. Is one of those old school New York apartments that's rent controlled but also basically you can own a unit. This is a nice decent ass fucking apartment even though it's only a two bedroom apartment mind you it was the two of them and their 5 kids their oldest my mom and her sister who were twins, and then there are three other daughters that all came afterwards every one of their kids is about two to three years apart. So when the oldest three were out of the house the youngest two were still living here they shared a bedroom and everything.
It's a humble apartment it's now like a luxury apartment compared to how small apartments are being made now in the city. But it's a really basic apartment but it's still really nice are there some cracks in the walls and shit yeah because it's also a really fucking old building but they're not moldy the water works, the heating works, everything is basically well taken care of because it's concrete and brick is also really fucking good insulated place.
That is a humble beginning compared to where some of my aunts are now some of them are married to very wealthy people some of them have started their own businesses that they run while also being parents some of them are child free and living their best in life. I have an aunt whose child free living her best life went on to medical school became a nurse has a degree in Marine biology has also worked in that field has lived in multiple States, met her now husband or at least he will be her husband this year there's engaged in getting married this year was a successful as fuck doctor and the two of them are completely happy and content with each other and his child from his first marriage. Would you sit there and say that she needed to come from an even worse apartment and upbringing in order for that to be a successful story for her going from being the child of two immigrants who came over here with like a suitcase and a dream. One who worked as a customer service woman at Verizon for years even to the point where at one point her husband had to stop working his construction job because he got fucking cancer and then died and left her with her two daughters who were the youngest to raise by herself. I think the hell not so why do you think that for whatever reason K-pop idols have to go through like worst circumstances when they start off before they make it big to be considered an underdog or successful?
Like genuinely that shit used to blow my mind. And like I know what I just shared with a little TMI too but it's like genuinely think about it. Think of all the immigrant stories you might be from immigrants or your grandparents were immigrants etc or you know people who came to America that aren't initially from here. A lot of them start off with nothing but even they sit there normally have better accommodations sometimes sometimes it's worse but you wouldn't sit there and look at two people who came to the country one who might have been so bad off in a living out of a fucking suitcase and couch hopping versus someone who sat there and was able to get a decent apartment but it's still small it's still cramped but it has all the basic necessities that a human needs and assuming that oh no that's a privileged person if they sat there and became a millionaire it wouldn't count as an underdog story.
Like I think it's ridiculous that for years we've been allowing companies to do this with their artists especially when the companies get bigger and they're making money and revenue because this is stupid. You're putting these idols in debt but then you're having them basically live like a fucking dog in a crate. That shit's crazy. They're not allowed to eat certain foods you monitor their every move and then you also have them living in a shoe box with mold on the wall and barely a window and people are arguing about whose group was struggling more rather than arguing hey company why the fuck aren't you giving them better accommodations.
I was flabbergasted when people were upset at mhj for spending the money that they made with new jeans to give them a better apartment as a dorm. Why are you upset that a CEO wanted to actually take care of their artist and give them a better living arrangement mind you we found out that source music had the girls and some of the members who eventually would debut in Leraphim or however you pronounce / spell their name in a mold infested dorm. That's a fucking insane why did you have a bunch of teenage girls living in mold? But also why were people sitting here arguing about artists getting better dorms because they come from a bigger company like I'm sorry if the company has that much fucking money mind you they're only that big because of the artist who came before you best be using that money to make sure that your new artist also have basic nice ass human necessities like if I was an artist from a company and I was one of the founders in terms of like the founding groups who created the company as it is today in terms of bringing in money I'd be pissed the fuck off if my money wasn't going to making sure that the younger groups and idols didn't have to suffer like my ass did because our company was either dirt poor or they were just evil and wanted us to have an underdog story so they purposely had his living in a place infested with fucking black mold.
If people want Kpop to have that factorial reset so that artists are treated better. And mind you I've done reading for like the K-pop industry as a whole and there's a possibility of it happening in 2026 or 2027 but it's only going to happen when came out fans wake the hell up and realize that they need to stop fighting each other and it's not about fan wars it's about going against the companies cuz the companies are the ones doing this fuck-assery and getting away with it. They're the ones who are deciding that they can overwork artists and not give them proper breaks they're the ones out here purposely treating these artists like shit. It's not the other fans it's not the other fandoms it's the companies people also need to understand that a lot of these companies have their own accounts that are pretending to be fan accounts who purposely stir the pot and create fan wars and shit because it gets more traction for the groups. It gets people paying attention and talking about the groups whether it's good or bad again in show Business just like in fashion all publicity is good publicity. You can't tell me you've never looked at a high-end brand and go why the fuck would you come out with that racist ass fashion piece or that bracelet that is literally just clear duct tape with your logo printed on it that's ridiculous they do it because they know it's ridiculous they do it because they know it's racist it's going to get people talking then they can half ass apologize for it and then they're numbers will normally go up because now people are like oh they learn from their mistakes let's spend money on their products. Or you have people who are like oh we're racist too we're going to support you because clearly you also think those people are inferior to us like either way it's going to get them more money K-pop companies are no different.
korean national assembly deciding what issues in the kpop industry to pay attention to
this makes me so fucking mad. you think YOU know what's best for them better than them??? the victims themselves?????? are you fucking kidding me?? "they don't know what's going on" and you do right???? what the hell. if they said that they felt safer and more comfortable under Min Heejin's management there must be a reason. sure, she is a weirdo freak and whatever but the girls are not crazy nor dumb, and they support her. hybe treats them like shit. this kind of comments make me SICK. have some respect.
I was thinking about how it's wild when you take a step back and look at the entire situation and it hits you that all of this is happening because of the ego of one man.
For contacts I personally feel like a lot of people overlook how absolutely unhinged evil Mr Piggy has always been. And a great example of this is his first two groups he had a co-ed group that he had debuted and they were an R&b Korean group and they did really well for a small company like this was one of the first groups he ever debuted when the company had like just started so this isn't the mid 2000s. He just banded them after their debut with a fairly successful numbers again for a small group from a small company because they didn't do big enough numbers. Then he went to his old Mentor and boss jyp and was like how the hell did you do so well with the Wonder Girls like I'm trying to get a group that's that good.
Jyp gave him some pretty solid advice which was consistency find a niche and then he hit him with something that changed evil Mr piggies trajectory for the worst which was also take inspiration from black music. Again this is unsurprising that jyp would say this you have to understand this is a man that really liked Soul music and swing music a lot of his own personal music takes inspiration from that the Wonder Girls were taking inspiration from The Supremes during the time that they became really popular in America with nobody and they're collaborations that they were doing with American artist like the school girls and their Nickelodeon specials like I watched both of those.
The thing is evil piggy bank only heard black music and then he became obsessed for the next five or so years trying to think of how he can create black music and then he stumbled upon the idea of doing hip hop group but he couldn't find people. I blame Sleepy and I'm going to continue to blame that man because he was a dumbass who sat there who was like yo I know this kid whose friends with Zico and he's also a really good rapper mind you at this point in time block b and big bang were the two groups absolutely killing it when it came to hip hop music in Korea while being idols.
That's how he ends up discovering RM has him come in sees his talent and figures oh we could use this kid to create my ultimate black fantasy of a K-pop group. Mind you this happens literally like a year or two before the source music x big hit scandal.
For those who are unaware Glam which was a I believe four or five member girl group initially was a joint project between Source music and big hit they have work together for years to create this girl group. That's why when they ended up merging the companies it was unsurprising because they had work together before and I'll probably do another post getting into why certain groups were disbanded because that also had to do with evil piggy banks ego.
But the first line of change was actually because one of the members after their debut single was found out to have been a stalker fan of super junior. Like it was well documented that she would follow the members and break into their hotel rooms and all of this shit as a teenager and now here she was as a young adult debuting as an idol and people were concerned. They were like she should not be a celebrity and have access to these members she's really weird how did y'all not do a background check her face is like plastered everywhere. So they had to get her out of the group they basically just like got rid of her.
Then they decided you know I like that I believe was the song they did actually really like that song I like both of the two songs they came out with that and then in the mirror or something like that. But then they like decided let's slow it down and maybe do a song that's a little more like sultry a little more Soul a little more R&b so they did in the mirror and then that's when the issue with that actor happened.
I refuse to have his name on my blog cuz I can't stand that man and he's recently been in news again. Because his wife was talking about how he doesn't like her traveling and he tells her what else is he doesn't like her wearing and it's really fucking weird because he will be gone for months mind you we're going to get into a little bit of the scandal but I'll probably do a deep dive in a later post.
He was cheating on his heavily pregnant wife while he was a top actor and she was a top actor who took a break from being an actress after they got married because he really wanted kids and she was like you know what yeah we should have children got pregnant and then while she was pregnant with their son he decided to cheat on her.
The thing that no one talks about and this is what pisses me off is the Glam members friend that's who he was cheating on his wife with. Was a rookie model and actress she was trying to make it in the industry and had this big star approach her because she admitted this in the court case because he did technically sue them for trying to blackmail him. But she admitted that she was trying to make it in the industry and he approached her and basically made her feel that she had to go out with him or else she'd be blacklisted. AKA using his Fame in connections to basically kind of low-key Force this young woman to be in a relationship with him and then she said fine she actually ended up liking him but she also like the perks of being with him. He ended up getting like this really big role and was paid out a lot of money that was made like public so she told him I'm sick and tired of meeting you at my janky apartment or at hotels I want you to buy me a house.
He pulled in Alexander Hamilton not because he was being blackmailed and it made him feel bad but because he just didn't want to buy her a house. She basically threatened to show pictures and videos that she got her friend the member of Glam to take while all three of them were hanging out together and he got really drunk. And he was admitting to like the cheating and apparently there's a bunch of other shit on the audio and video they never released what exactly was said but it was pretty damn bad apparently. And he didn't want that to happen so instead he told on himself he didn't even go to the cops he went to the press. He went directly to the magazines and news outlets and said I've been cheating on my life with this girl and she tried to get me to buy her a house so instead of having her blackmail me to give her money and stuff because she's been you know giving me sex and doing what I want to do I'd rather tell on myself.
His wife was also like 6 or 7 months pregnant so I understand why she stayed with him but I am upset that the rest of the general public and everyone scrutinized the fuck out of those two young women again these were two girls in their early twenties frontal lobe not even fully developed yet. And wish death on them while he got away Scott free they were like he just made a mistake and it was like she admitted to the fact that this affair had been going on for at least a year that's not a mistake his wife hadn't had a kid yet that means he was most likely fucking this young girl and his wife without his wife knowing that he was also having sex with her and mind you it also came out that allegedly there may have been a pregnancy scare and or abortion that happened so he wasn't even wrapping it before he tapped it so he was putting his wife and his unborn child eventually when she got pregnant in danger of catching some kind of STD but like I said we're not talking about that man.
When I went to shit Source music decided to dip they went on to debut gfriend they did extremely well allegedly it was rumored that evil piglet was very upset about the fact that they had a successful girl group and he could not create a successful girl group or a group in general. It pissed him off because you have to remember when he eventually ends up debuting BTS they were a flop.
I used to be an army I'm an ex BTS fan just because of how shitty the fandom is but I will do deep dive on this account at some point about the group. And when I say that I mean about how they came to be and their reputation in Korea which is why they had to go to America to make waves because they were known as the chameleon group they were out here basically trend hopping as often as possible because they didn't have a brand they didn't have an image there was no vision for them. They were compared to BAP Block b Big Bang when they decided to switch things up they were being compared to like VIXX because of their storytelling that they decide to do like out of nowhere and then eventually the advertisement in America paid off like Bank PD talked to a Japanese entertainment guy I don't remember if he was a CEO or he was in marketing. But he basically told him you have to advertise them to non K-pop fans as if they are the superior K-Pop group these fans have no clue what K-pop is like. So as long as you keep advertising them as like one of a kind and unique the fans are going to believe that before they discover any new K-pop groups. That's exactly what happened if you look back at bts's advertisement especially around the time when they blew up it was a lot of pushing like we're pushing genres. We want to talk about the heavy hitting topics mind you K-pop idols have been coming out with songs about low self-esteem, loving yourself, feeling like an outcast that wasn't new Glam in front of the mirror or whatever that song was called was literally a song about the members being like a woman who felt insecure but then she looks in the mirror and realizes she needs to love herself that was literally the message of the song. So their whole advertisement wasn't anything new in Kpop but he was new to Western audiences who weren't into kpop.
Anyway back to like evil Piggy bank. He had such a huge ego after BTS ended up actually blowing up mind you he had nothing to do with that that was purely because of fans. You have to understand while JYP SM and YG would have English captions eventually maybe a few weeks or month later on their videos. Big hit wasn't doing that. hit wasn't doing that.
So any clips you saw in the beginning days of BTS with English or any captions were completely fan made. Fans were going out of their way to caption their videos and reupload them. Fans were going out of their way to share information and things about the members at the beginning of the fandom army hated evil Porky the pig.
You have to understand this man had members self-conscious about their bodies because he kept wanting a teenage / barely 20 year old jimin to keep being shirtless and talking about how his body is going to attract fans to the point where this man had did two or three live streams where he was just breaking the fuck down on camera. If you think Sakura is bad with how badly she cries sometimes and her low self-esteem jimin was like a hundred times worse.
Then you have the fact that he could not remember V name which is why I totally believe New Jeans when they talked about him apparently not remembering who they were.
Because he did that for 3 years straight. Mind you he's the one who gave him the stage name V for victory and he couldn't even remember him for a 3-year straight. He remembered every other members name but him apparently he's always had it out for him why I don't know it's one of the many mysteries of army where we don't know why bang PD was so mean to V and why he disliked him so much.
Mind you it also came out that him and the company was blocking V from having ambassadorships or doing advertisements and this was before he miraculously decided out of nowhere that all seven members had to be chosen or they weren't going to do any kind of like advertisements or modeling which is also what hindered their growth because he refused to allow them to do solo work. But the reason why allegedly he made that a rule is because he was constantly trying to push Jimin and JK as the main breakout stars of BTS but instead of them being picked most fashion brands and like luxury brands were trying to get V because they were like we like his appearance which makes sense in my opinion because no offense to JK or Jimin they're very basic Korean boy next door looking. There's nothing about them that stands out but V has a very interesting face. Enough that he could do high fashion it makes sense that high-end brands would want him to model their jewelry or be the guy who wears their perfume like have you seen how unique looking or super fucking chiseled the male models they use for those advertisements and magazines and commercials are.
But anyway between that and then the fact that he had lied to Yoongi about what his job would be. Like that man joined the company to be a producer. He had no necessary desires to be an idol at all like even when he left his family it was to be a producer and maybe pursue rapping. Then he was told that they were just going to be like a rap group there'll be no dancing no idle work none of that shit he didn't have to sit there and pretend to be cute or someone's boyfriend and then that's exactly what ended up happening. By then he had already signed the contract and it was too late like he literally talked about it like that at the beginning of their career it's like he was like I did not want to be here.
So in the very beginning a lot of the fans didn't like him. That's not even getting into the fact that he consistently called J-hope ugly and thought the man was so unattractive looking that when they first debuted you'll notice he wore a lot of baseball caps and these huge ass face mask. J-hope talked about how those face masks were so constructive that sometimes he felt like he's going to pass out cuz he could barely breathe with them on but they kept making him wear them because they thought his face was too ugly.
So he had always been money hungry and evil even in the beginning. The difference was the fans saw this they didn't fall for his bullshit. Sadly when the pandemic happened he went until full PR mode for himself. He had already started going into PR mode as soon as BTS started getting popular in America but he like sent it into hyperdrive during the pandemic as the guys kept getting even more popular he made sure that whatever new fans were going to affiliate the group with him first and foremost.
Then as he kept debuting groups he kept making sure that he was being heavily affiliated with them and that they're fandom liked him so that he could use them as a shield. As far back as the 2010s he has done interviews where he talked about how he purposely did research on the gaming community. What made gamers so addicted to games and defend their games to the death.
He literally admitted to this even as late as the 2020s in his New Yorker interview where he literally stated that he wanted to make a fandom that was a cult. He wanted to make fans that were so devoted that they would be willing to defend the group and the company and not question anything that they tell them he told on himself in that interview while he was in the beginning of his legal dispute with MHJ and New Jeans and yet somehow people ignored it. Mind you he has always have a habit of telling on himself because he can't shut the hell up.
You also have to understand that he wanted to try and catch lightning in the bottle. But then he thought I don't know this would still work right. TXT was supposed to debut with an R&b sound the members talked about that too like that's what they were trained in they were trained to be R&b singers and then last minute switched up their vibe. Allegedly this is because of the fact that K-pop fans were talking about wanting refreshing boy group concepts or something that hasn't been done recently and at that point in time groups like Twice were really popular and they had a more bright sound or even groups like Itzy where again their whole vibe was very high teen.
Also allegedly he didn't think they could compete with some of the groups that had already debuted and were starting to gain popularity. Such as SVT, SKZ,NCT. The current group of male idols that were popular at the time or gaining more popularity.
I personally feel like he fumbled the bag with that because TXT when they do more R&b songs for their b-sides sound the best. And when they lean more into like the singing aspect those songs tend to always end up going viral so it's not like he had bad members he just was really shit at advertising them and knowing what to do with them.
Cortis is alleged to be his 2.0 of what he wanted BTS to be in staff because again you have to understand BTS didn't blow up because of their hip hop sound they blew up because of their storytelling. The most beautiful Moments in life part 1 and 2 was their breakout albums it was their breakout songs it's what got them a global fan base and recognition not their hip hop sound and apparently that irritated the hell out of bang pd. Mind you that entire switch up was because of their original creative team and the members themselves they were like we don't think this is working so we want to switch it up and try this instead he said sure and they were actually right and apparently that pissed him off. Again allegedly that's why people think when contract renewals happen with bts. The members have basically all but admitted to the fact that three of the members were ready to go JK V and Yoongi we're ready to not resign the contracts they were ready for the group to go on and try to make it independently or finding another company the other four members convince them not to do that.
That's also why it's unsurprising that during this court case and everything going on. We found out that one of the things in the BTS contract that they resigned was that the members weren't allowed to leave the company. They basically pitted in there that if they did decide to leave like if any of the members left they would have to pay a hefty fine and they wouldn't be able to use the BTS trademark. Which is why some people think the other four members decided that they should just stay with the company for like 5 to 7 more years. I personally feel like that was the dumbest decision they made at that point in time they were at the peak of their careers they had made enough money all together and they had a small I think all together they had like a 5% sharehold of the company. They eventually sold those shareholds anyway they could have used that as collateral if they left being like oh you want us to pay this stupidly high price of money well take our shares of the company because at that point in time the company shares were worth quite a lot and then I feel like they could have gotten the rest of the money together very easily from the money that they had already started making because at that point they had also started doing solo work that the company allowed them to do on top of the group itself making so much money. They could have gone out of those contracts and they could have found a better company or they could have started their own a lot of fans wish they would have pulled a Got7. They genuinely had better finances and a better outcome than the members of Got7 did in terms of being able to leave their company and start over again and still have a solid fan base and yet they still stayed with that bitch ass company.
Then you have to look at evil piggy banks background because a lot of people ignore the fact that he's not a rags to Riches story. He comes from a upper middle class / lower upper class family right. He has siblings that work at like the top of their fields and aunts and uncles who are ceos. He didn't become a CEO and a founder of a company because it was his dream to make music. He wasn't even interested in music until he started working at jyp entertainment.
The rumors go that it's because of his friendship with JYP and him seeing how lucrative being a CEO was and how much money jyp was making mind you I think he was also forgetting the fact that regardless of how popular unpopular he was jyp was also an artist who made good music and had a solid fan base and he's had this solid fan base since his initial debut all the way back in the '90s. This man was rich because he had decades worth of money.
But also evil piggy bank didn't need this in order to become a rich person or CEO but he saw it as a challenge allegedly. Because he was never really given a big role at jype like yeah he was like a producer and he was doing all these things but he wasn't an mhj. Right LSM believed in MHJ off that he allowed her to be in control of full album roll out like The Pink Tape which went down in history. SNSD hoot several Shinee projects. That's the kind of like notoriety evil Mr Piggy wanted.
But he wasn't talented enough to actually have it. So he decided to start his own company. Mind you he could have fully funded the company without taking out any bank loans or going into debt but he did it on purpose. I'm not going to explain why rich people do this. But rich people will sit there and spend money that they will take out on loan rather than their own money to start companies because of several things one of them is a tax write off. But also it makes it easier for them to then invest into the company with their own money because investments are seeing differently like it's it's a lot to do basically with just cheating the system to make more money without having to spend a lot of money. Mind you big hit with bankrupt at least twice they didn't need to but they did and he got money for that you can file for bankruptcy. And it'll actually help you in the long run when it comes to money I know this for three reasons one I had to do a paper on Donald Trump in high school and found out about all the times him and his father filed for bankruptcy and how they basically did it so that they can still make money without having to pay back their debt because the company was doing it it was complicated. The second one is I actually have very rich family members I'm talking multimillionaire family members both in America and in China. I'm not super close with them but I'm close enough with them that occasionally they will talk about money and how they do things and why they have so much of it and 90% of it is basically just knowing how to ethically keep the system so that you can keep making money off of the money of the system without having to spend a dime of your own or having your own money invested into certain things so that your money makes you money. And again Bank PD comes from a wealthy family he's not stupid he knows how to do these things and he does them.
The whole Narrative of big hit being is poor company was done by design. Allegedly and I'm always going to say allegedly cuz these are just rumors from insiders and blind items in Korea but a lot of them make sense. But allegedly he purposely went about starting his company the way he did and making sure that it was like dirt poor and Rock bottom because he noticed cuz again he's like the Mr Beast of K-pop he studied the fuck out of these companies before he started his own and he studied the hell out of gaming culture so he can figure out how he can utilize that to create a cult like following.
So he discovered that people like an underdog Story in K-pop more than they like oh this was like a wealthy company and they debuted group. He noticed the animosity that sme, jype, y g e groups had when they first debuted because they were from one of the big three he didn't want that to happen to his group so he purposely went the we're so dirt poor we can't afford anything. That's also why army were very pissed off in the beginning of the fandom because when we found out that he purposely had the members living in mold roach infested rooftop dorms and shit when he could have paid for them to have better dorms from the very beginning just because he wanted them to struggle and have that underdog Story it pissed a lot of people off cuz he basically put their health at risk mind you he tried doing the same shit with new jeans and source music.
Anyway this is getting longer than I thought it would be so let's try and wrap it up a little quicker here. He went through a lot to convince MHJ to sign with him and his company and I feel like people forget about that like the reason why the rumors existed that he was in love with her is because of all the things he did to convince her to come to this company.
Just to list off some of the things he did because people seem to keep forgetting that he did this all on his own she was willing to retire after LSM left sm. He talked to her parents he also allegedly talked about giving her more time off to spend with her parents/moving her parents closer to where she was just so she would join his company, followed her for months trying to convince her to join consistently throwing out prices of how much he'd be willing to pay her and telling her I'll let you create your own girl group they'll be the first girl group we debut please join my company. Allegedly. Apparently he went out of his way to call up his friend LSM and be like yo who are some of the people that mhg worked with at your company and what was it that she liked about them just so he could try and start tailor making a team to work with her to create this girl group that he desperately wanted. He didn't have to do all that shit he did that on his own because he really really wanted her ideas her formula.
And the reason why this makes sense that I think some K-pop fans overlook is every single one of her projects at SME were hit. Ice cream by red velvet The Velvet, hoot by SNSD along with several of their other songs and concepts I'm pretty sure genie was also her idea.
She was the main creative director her and one other person whose name I forgot for SNSD, FX, EXO, Red Velvet, SUJU,NCT and Shinee.
So it's understandable looking at how popular all of those groups were with their concepts that being PD would be obsessed with having her and having her completely in charge of a group. Mind you people have made debates about groups like red velvet and their concepts before and after she left the company I believe dumb dumb was there first comeback after she left and a lot of people did not like the direction that they went into without their main creative director. Mind you she join their board of directors in 2017 which is when she primarily stopped working as a creative director for most of their groups at sme. Before eventually stepping down and then completely leaving company in 2019 rumor has it they had promised her she'd be able to debut her own group that's why bang PD went after her.
She already had an idea for a girl group. She was promised that she'd be able to debut one under SME allegedly the rookie girls that they got from the Mickey mouse Clubhouse Disney Channel broadcast that happened in 2015 mind you NCT members were also part of this specifically the dream members. Those girls were supposed to be the ones that she was going to be in charge of and she was going to debut clearly that never happened matter of fact when she left the company four of those girls also off the company even though they were trainees for almost a decade some of them had trained anywhere from 5 to 10 years. Rumors was that people thought they had actually followed her to HYBE.
We know that's not true but like that's how big her having her own company and all this happening was but also people already knew that she was sick and tired of men promising her shit and then not giving it to her. She was probably something at SM and then they decided to kick out LSM and they told her yeah no we're not going to give you that project you said you were going to have we can't do it we're sorry. Because mind you at this point in time they already knew they were getting rid of LSM and they wanted no groups or anyone affiliated with him at the company really because you'll notice that like a majority of the OG SME staff was either fired or they quit.
Rumor had it SME wanted her to expand with the smcu and that wasn't going to work for her. She had an idea. They did not agree with her idea her idea clearly was complete clearly hello new jeans again red velvet the perfect red velvet red summer their debut with happiness automatic they had so many good songs and concepts and albums XO people are always surprised when they find out from the very beginning she was the primary creative director for Excel NCT again with NCT you all the way to like halfway into their careers I believe my first and last was the last NCT project she had worked on of course FX the entire careers from their debut all the way to four walls. Same with SNSD choose in charge of a lot of their hit aesthetics Run devil Run hoot Gee. With shiny it was from the very first to the very last album that they did as all five members.
And I also feel like people forget that allegedly during this whole process and it also came out that they wanted her concept her Five-Year Plan way ahead of time before they actually got their hands on it. Before she even debuted new jeans they were trying to get their hands on her idea and she refused to give it to them. She kept telling them it's not ready yet and why do you need to see it. She pushed that off for as long as she could until she finally had to just let them look at the plan she thought they were just going to skim over it see what she was doing so that they could make sure that the new girl group they were supposed to debut wasn't going to have any crossovers. So they wouldn't have a similar sound.
Lspm because I can't use LSM for this group since I use it for like the CEO and founder of SM entertainment. But lspm is rumored that their debut and their whole vibe at debut was that way because that is what source music and Bank PD had projected would do better than mhj's idea mind you they didn't think that attention or hype boy would be a good song.
They genuinely thought that the two songs that kind of introduced everyone to new jeans and everyone instantly fell in love with we're going to be flops he thought that he had fucked up with getting mhj because clearly she didn't know what the fuck she was doing and that's why I SME didn't want her to have her own group and then she proves him wrong and that pissed him off.
Yes he always wanted to have her game plan for a group but I think he was willing to let her stay at the company and do whatever the fuck she wanted because he genuinely thought she was going to fail but when she proved him wrong that's when his ego got in the way and he was very upset. Because it's one thing if she debuted this girl group and they were like mediocre at best it's another thing when they started outperforming his own groups when they started getting a little too close to reaching that BTS status a little too fast.
I feel like people are overlooking how much he sabotaged other groups too. SVT was at a really steady trajectory to do well and also overtake BTS at some point and then as soon as he got a hold of their company he kind of fucked that up for them. Txt have literally broken several of bts's records over the years and he never posted shit about it. The company never even talked about some of these records that they beat you would only know about it if you follow their fan accounts who keep track of like how long a song has stayed at number one or how high in a certain chart a song debuted at and they've called out how weird it is that when txt hits these milestones is Radio silence.
BND is there current victims. KOZ had a majority of their staff replaced with HYBE employees like this was talked about I am also pretty sure that the members themselves in a live had talked about the fact that they've gotten some new staff members and they had apologize at one point because they were supposed to have certain videos coming out but because the staff changed those videos came out later than they were supposed to. And that's wild the only staff that is the same allegedly where the managers which I think makes sense Zico has basically been with his manager since his days at Seven seasons AKA KQ entertainment for people who are unaware Ateez is technically the little brother group of Block b so is the other group from that company. But zico went through a lot of bullshit as the leader with seven seasons and he had already went through a lot of bullshit with Superstar entertainment I believe was the first entertainment company that block b was signed to because they we're not being paid at all even though they were making money and then they also were being held back creatively and having some of the songs that they were supposed to come out with taken from them for other artists. So they went through an entire lawsuit with that company one in terms of being able to get out of their contracts and shit and then ended up signing on with seven seasons.
Then while they were at Seven seasons they also had some issues there and again because of the fact that zika was the leader he took charge and all of this they had some issues. And then eventually when their contracts were initially over he started the koz or king of the zungle.
Which mind you he had for a while and he finally got to the point where he wanted to debut his own boy group and that's when he was approached by bank PD where he was like hey. We want to help you out so why don't you become a subdairy company under HYBE and will do all of the distribution for you and help with a budget. Because that's what people seem to not understand.
Hybe is an MLM it's a multi-leveling marketing company basically. They're not supposed to be in control of the other sub companies which is why the entire lawsuit with mhj and new jeans is weird as fuck. HYBE is only supposed to be in charge of the distribution of the albums they're supposed to be a charge of contacting the award shows and the music shows to allow for the artist to perform that's supposed to be their job they're not supposed to have any say in the sub dairy companies and especially when it comes to the music they come out with or the groups that they're debuting that's the only reason why the company has been allowed to have so many sub-dairy companies because technically monopolies are illegal in South Korea SME had to get rid of several sub dairy companies that they had because of the fact that they were completely ran by SME and their CEO and people you can't have that be a thing if they were only in charge of distributation AKA making sure that the albums were being given to like the stores and sold abroad and domestically they could have kept those subject companies but they weren't doing that so they had to dissolve them same thing with yge and jype when those laws ended up being passed both of those companies had to get rid of their acting Division and they're modeling division.
So evil piglet basically just found a workaround for this. But then he started actually taking over the companies replacing their initial employees with his own trying to dictate when companies should have comebacks and when they shouldn't and that's when he got messy and that's when mhj was like oh hell no and that's when they decided to boot her earlier than they were supposed to.
Because from what we could see from the leaked documents thanks to the Korean government doing something slightly right. And also again blind items and stuff that was talked about during the time. They were going to actually phase her out. They weren't going to initially just kick her out of the company they were going to have her continue with new jeans for at least one more year and then they were going to start pushing heavily for her to start making a boy group. Their plan was that she would get so busy with the boy group The njz would fall to the side or that they would be able to sneak their grimy little hands on the girl group and be like hey since you're so busy with the boy group and you know you don't have a lot of Staff because they didn't they had a fairly small staff for their company. Why don't the girls go on hiatus and they were going to start it off at first with like only going to hiatus for a few months and then try to extend it from a few months to a year then from one year to a year and 6 months then two years and then eventually they felt like they keep giving her the run around with the boy group not allowing her to debut them and also get rid of new jeans all at the same time.
Clearly they have never met a bad bitch with ADHD because I can tell you that is not how that would work for any of us. When we hyper fixate on a project or some shit we hyper fixate on that bitch this woman was hyper fixated on debuting this girl group for years there was no way in hell that even if you told her hey you can also do a boy group that she was going to give up on that girl group oh hell no she would have just started hyper fixating on both groups at the same time she would have entered the flow state of ADHD and she would have came out with the holy fucking Duo of K-pop a boy group and a girl group who would have been absolutely taking over the world.
Or at least that's just in my humble opinion. Anyway this post was way longer than I wanted it to be but I feel like I just had to get that off my chest. And I do want to actually talk about these things because I find them fascinating. Like the weird bullshit that the CEOs do in South Korea has definitely been one of my hyper fixation which I think makes sense cuz my hyper fixation when I was in like high school and middle school was on court cases against corrupt rich people because I just found it so fascinating all of the dumb shit they would do for ego. Like they didn't need the money they didn't really care about the businesses they just did it because Billy Bob was richer than them and had a hotter wife and shoved it in their face that they were better than them in business so they decided to start committing crimes.
hi, do you think that newjeans will ever realise thst mhj isn't a good person either :/
— does newjeans know that min heejin is not a good person either?
