"You said the bad word!"

God, I love Sitting Ducks (I mean, I have always loved ducks, be it real or a fictional cartoon character)!! Each episode puts a smile on my face. It's really hard to find a way to watch this series these days, but if you can, you should!

Also, probably a bad take, but: animation never needed to be developed further than this. It looks absolutely fine like this. If 3D-animated shows looked like this today, I bet it would be much more cost-effective to produce these kinds of shows. But everything needs to be ultra detailed these days...

‘Sitting Ducks’

Sitting Ducks. 

Now that was an odd show that came out of nowhere. 

Never gave it much thought up until seeing this ad for the PC game they made, but I remember seeing bits of it growing up but never really getting into it. Maybe it was the art style, or maybe the overall set-up of the show: a duck named Bill and his alligator friend Aldo getting into various hi-jinks. It just didn’t click.

Turns out Sitting Ducks was based on a series of lithographs of the same name, and the alligator aspect came from the children’s book that revealed that the ducks are actually born in gator-run factories and encouraged to live and eat in Ducktown so they can be eaten later. In the story an alligator befriends a duck--neither being the protagonists the show--that rolled off the factory line and explains the truth to him; the duck later goes to Ducktown to encourage the residents to get healthy so they can fly away.

As for the game, it doesn’t appear to be much more than a licensed open-world mini-game collection aimed at children.
