Q: How do you assess the strength of Learner's game and what are the areas that you feel like all of a sudden could take him to another level?

MC: Yeah, we've worked on a lot of different aspects of his game. I think Learner is a much more complete player than I was at at 20 years old.

Q: A more complete player than you?

MC: I think so.

Q: You were a veteran at 20!

MC: Well, but I think I won a lot of my matches through speed, through ground game. I didn't win that that much at the net. I didn't have a huge serve. Learner's got a big serve now. He's not spinning that serve in anymore, so the serve has become a weapon. I think he's a great mover. He's using his forehand now a little bit more to hurt guys. His backhand's still really steady. And he's able to to to win points at the net, but I think one of his biggest strengths is really his mental toughness. I like to tell you that I had a lot of influence on that, but to be honest with you, he was already mentally tough prior to to me working with him. And he's a very cerebral player. So for me to talk with him strategically about opponents or about play is very easy. And that coupled with just a lot of great things about him and, like you said, his very calm demeanor I think just makes him a great player.
