The Wife Who Knew Too Much is my first book from Michele Campbell. “Nina Leavitt is very wealthy. And when she is found dead, floating in her pool after a big party, the initial ruling is suicide. But Nina was afraid something would happen and has written her fears in a diary. She thought her husband David was after her millions. Did he drown her? He had the most to gain. Or was it Tabitha? The old summer flame that David rekindled. She was there that night looking for David to deliver some news. Or was it someone else? Is anyone angry enough to kill Nina?” Like many thrillers this book goes back and forth between present and past. Campbell makes it work. Lots of clues and red herrings about what happened. If you pay close attention you might get it - big surprise for me. I liked the twist and I like that Campbell has a bit of a messy ending. If you like domestic thrillers and can go to the beach, this would be a great choice. I received an advanced reader copy of A Stranger on the Beach from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley, in return for my honest opinion. A Stranger on the Beach by Michele Campbell is a story about deceiving appearances. Caroline Stark’s husband, Jason, has been spending a lot of time traveling for work and making excuses to keep him away from home. Then Caroline meets Aidan- a guy that she believes has been casing her beach house, to rob her. Aidan has a checkered past but he thinks Caroline may just be what he needs to prove to everyone that he’s not the monster they believe him to be. Caroline’s marriage has reached its breaking point and soon she finds herself involved with Aidan. She thought it was just a one night stand, but Aidan thinks he’s in love. This was a fast, easy read but there were too many unreliable characters. A Stranger on the Beach is available today, Tuesday, July 23, 2019.
