How are microdermals removed?
Microdermals are meant to be a more permanent type of body modification so generally when they are removed it is when they are on the path to rejection/migration. If the dermal is no longer fully attached to the tissue, a professional piercer will usually massage the tissue surrounding the dermals to loosen up the last of the tissue until the professional piercer can easily pop the jewelry out.
If the jewelry cannot be massaged out, it will have to be cut out. This process sounds much worse then it really is! With the older style of microdermal jewelry, a scalpel was required to remove the jewelry every time. However now, if it cannot be massaged out, a professional piercer will usually take a 10g needle and make a tiny incision on the side that the longer anchor plate sits. Then continue to massage the jewelry out. If it will still not break free of the tissue, a small incision may be made on the side of the short plate. Then the jewelry will be popped out. It's not much more painful than the process of getting the microdermal in the first place. After removal, regular aftercare will have to be followed. A professional piercer will go through the aftercare instructions with you. I hope this helps!
