Have figured out that I am a grey ace nebularomantic uranic! Yippee!
Microlables are like taxonomy. Useful for people who want to really get into it. But you don't need to know the subspecies of tiger to know that it is a large striped cat.
They are neither good nor evil. And imposing them on people or decrying them as bad are both very much shit takes. Just because it's a stressful experience for one person doesn't mean it's not a source of joy and wonderment for another.
Oh by the way. You are a fish.
Random identity labels talk
I understand and appreciate why these are important to some but why are there so many different labels for people in the LGBTQ community. Im not saying that these labels are wrong but I never could really understand the point of having so many labels to explain everything they feel relating to their sexuality or gender.
Personaly it stressed me out seeing all these different labels when I first started rediscovering my gender, to the point where it kept me up some nights. This was similar with my sexuality but to a lesser degree. Because of my interests, I found it hard to pitch myself into a gender until I realised I dont have to conform to the role.
I can now proudly say I'm a trans man, who happens to like feminine things, and is not sure who their attracted to yet.
These multitude of labels can help some but confuse others.
To people who use these microlables, good for you! You found labels that fit you. And those who don't, don't worry! You don't need to do anything else.... its your life after all.
If anyone wants to show their experience here in the comments, ill gladly hear it. This is a safe place for people of any gender or any sexuality ( barring MAPS, PEARS , zoophiles, trans age, etc. because they aren't really sexualities or genders but predatory people who won't accept that they need help)
If the label exists, it’s necessary
period.
Things that are valid:
*using labels
*not wanting a label
*using microlabels, even several of them, to precisely describe your identity
*using a general umbrella term instead
*using a general umbrella term in some spaces and microlabels in others
*sticking with a label you're attached too even when you found something that technically describes you better
*switching labels when you find one that fits you better, no matter how often you switch
*making up your own label if you can't find one you like
Things that are NOT valid:
*giving people shit for how they ID
*trying to dictate another persons ID
