Sometimes I think about the fact that Midnight Scrum sounds like a whump fanfic, but is actual canon. Describe it to someone and it’s so obviously a lot of whump! And it’s canon!!! It’s a Hiccup whump fever dream!

Lol, there are so many people on this post saying they don’t remember the chain, which is just so funny to me. The only pic in that set that’s an edit is the one of Hiccup blindfolded. Everything else is canon. (Though that should have been canon too.)
And I will never forget the chain. Midnight Scrum, my beloved. The chain is forever burned into my mind. It holds a special place in my heart.
Also people saying the chain was unnecessary and put in there just for funsies. (They definitely didn’t mean it in a derogatory way.) Hiccup made the chain necessary though. Having just his hands bound means he can still run. Which he tried to do. Hence the chain. If Hiccup isn’t restrained in every way possible when you capture him, you’re not going to get to keep him for very long. He will get out of anything!
I'm gonna be mean and say Savage should have thrown Hiccup’s leg overboard when he stole it >:)
So I have read (and reread 😉) a lot of awesome Midnight Scrum AUs (with all the Hiccup whump that goes with them) but I don't think I ever read one where Krogan doesn't take the risk of maybe being paid by the Grimborns and just take Hiccup directly to Drago.
I mean, another dragon rider with a Night Fury and who is the son of one of the chiefs who laugh at Drago. Surely that would interest the man ?
I may be mistaken however (or simply forgotten) and if someone had indeed write something similar I would love to read it 😊
Either way, just thought it would be a cool concept.

When Ryker refuses to pay the bounty, the bounty hunter who'd delivered him chokes Hiccup out with the same chain he'd been using as a leash to haul him around with.
If Viggo wants him alive, Ryker and the masked bounty hunter will need to come to an agreement.
