Mighty Monday

Today we are releasing our video for “Heart Beat Slow,” a song that brings us back to the start of our musical journey almost a year ago. Now you can buy this ditty and 6 other LIVE recordings for only $4 on our bandcamp!

Nick and I planned a visit to Fort Collins, CO and Boulder to check colleges and catch great vibes and beautiful landscapes with our friends. We couch surfed, saw old friends, made new ones, consumed much beers, and found ourselves upon Flattop Mountain in the thick of Rocky Mountain National Park recording a video at the summit in freezing temperatures. I honestly don’t know how I escaped without frostbite! Here’s our original video:

Jimmy was under the weather and could not perform for the video regrettably, but the shoot was fun and nostalgic. 

We finished “Heart Beat Slow” as we were passing through Kansas on the drive out. I definitely look to that experience as the start of our musical collaboration, so this video shoot is iconic to me. I helped Nick wrap up what I thought were very beautiful lyrics and banish any and all apprehensions concerning the fact that, no, we’ve never been to Ireland. Are there hills there? Does it matter? I think the lyrics are quite representative of all places breathtaking and sacred in some indescribable way.

Moving to New Orleans, LA in September.

I, Jake, will be the mighty brother this summer and performing our tunes with our friends John Valdez on kit and Quinn Sternberg on bass. It’s going to be an interesting experience for me, adapting to solo front man, arranging new material, performing and generating hype for the release. Some of you have caught a show or caught snippets of the full-length Jettison. Reprise., so help me spread the word!! 

For now, I bid Nick a safe and malaria-free experience across the vast seas between us!
