This is a strip map dated 26 May 1945. It was produced by the 102nd Infantry Division’s G-4 to aid its elements in their movement from the German town of Haldensleben to the city of Gotha, where the division was tasked with occupation duty.
US Army standards for strip maps require that a starting point (SP), release point (RP), major road intersections, towns, and cities in the route, as well as the distances between them all be called out on the schismatic. Interestingly in this map the abbreviated term SP (starting point) is replaced with ‘IP.’
