What to say about Slenderman… what to say…
Let’s start here: Slenderman is an ancient being. Much like Zalgo, Slenderman has existed for a long time. He is a creature of the earth, and though it’s not known exactly what he is, he seems to be a manifestation of negativity… almost.
The mansion is an extension of himself, twisting and turning and bending and breathing and housing his children of darkness, misfortune. The mansion and the forest and Slenderman needs the energy to grow stronger, hence why he’s taken in so many wayward souls. Their sadness, their rage, their confusion, it all keeps him powerful…
It wasn’t always like this. Loblolly used to be peaceful. However, Zalgo and Slenderman’s last battle ended in that fateful forest. Slenderman trapped Zalgo in the underworld, but he, in turn, was trapped amongst the trees, meaning he cannot go far from the mansion. That’s where his proxies come into play.
That all happened in the late 1800s. In this new, modern era, things are changing. Perhaps it was Sally’s companionship, reviving her and viewing her like a father would his daughter. Perhaps it was giving a place to those affected by his enemy, for once not seeing fear in their eyes but hope, salvation. Whatever it was, the Slenderman has began feeling new things it had never felt before. A flame burning in his chest. He wonders if there is humanity within him… Perhaps it’s not negative energy that fuels him. Perhaps their belief in his ability to do good works just as well.
